I was 55 when I did it & I'm 75 now. It was the best decision I ever made.

Not only that, but 20 years ago it was major surgery & I was in the hospital for 3 days. It's like a trip to the dentist nowadays, compared to then.

I had my gastric sleeve surgery when I was 54.

Two months before the sleeve I had my gallbladder out by the same surgeon. It took over 5 hours for my gallbladder surgery compared to the expected 60-90 minutes. The surgeon said it took so long because my liver was very inflamed and in bad shape. He said that it was good that I was losing weight on the pre surgery diet and decided to have the gastric sleeve because after viewing my liver he was concerned that I would not live another 2 years.

My only regret is not having the gastric sleeve done it sooner.

I'm 56 and 1/2. I'm going to have sleeve bariatric surgery in early August. I'm excited! My knees hurt so....much. My body will be so relieved to get this weight off! These doctors and their staff members focus on our well-being, safety, and making sure we each have the very best outcome. They are trained, devoted to their work, experienced, and very knowledgeable. I have faith in their capabilities and in our immune systems as we go through these surgeries.

I'm so glad you're okay? Has your liver been checked since then? I hope it's feeling better!
Every year my PCP does blood work and checks the liver enzymes and they are always slightly elevated. About 2 years ago she had me do a scan because of the enzyme results and my liver looked fine. The Dr. believed my high protein diet contributes to the evaluated enzymes and it is now just baseline for me.

My knees hurt so much pre surgery! Even sitting they were uncomfortable and only felt better when I propped my feet up. I actually bought a recliner from Amazon several months before surgery and it made all the difference. I even slept in it after 3 surgeries (gallbladder/sleeve/loop) because it was so much easier to get out of than either the bed or sofa. I finally donated the recliner about 6 months ago. I had not used it since the final surgery and didn't need it anymore because my knees stopped hurting with the weight loss. I hope you have the same result with your knees post surgery and weight loss!
