Update after gallbladder surgery

First I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the kind messages. You guys are amazing here. I honestly don’t remember my sleeve surgery even being this painful. I was back in the ER last night and they found an air pocket left over from them having to put co2 in my stomach for surgery which has been causing a LOT of shoulder pain and just breathing hurts. I’ve been given 2 different pain meds that aren’t even barely touching the pain but they did give me something stronger through my IV last night. Of course no bowel movement even with me taking Colace so that’s not helping. I do see my sleeve surgeon today and then my surgeon that did the gallbladder removal next week. He’s called to check on me a couple times now. I’m a big baby and had to MAKE myself stop crying yesterday because it feels like my insides were being ripped out. This has been extremely rough and I wish that it was just removed when I had my sleeve. However, I didn’t know it was in bad shape then and I don’t think my doctor knew either cause I wasn’t experiencing any problems at the time. I did try some dairy yesterday and did really well with it. This morning I’m going to attempt a small cup of decaf coffee with a little creamer and see how that goes. I enjoy my coffee so much because my husband and I get to sit back in the mornings before the kids get up and just enjoy each other’s company in peace and quiet over a nice warm cup of coffee. So I’m really hoping it goes well lol!

Girl, I’m rooting for you and a quick recovery. This does not sound fun. I’ve never heard of a trapped air pocket. Seriously, the surgeons need to come up with a better way to remove the CO2 after surgery. It’s a nightmare for us patients and trapped air pockets is just wrong! I’m a big cry baby too. Just let the tears flow, it will make you feel better.

How big is the gallbladder incision? Same as the bariatric surgery incisions? Did they make a new incision or cut on top of an existing scar?

Thank you :) and I agree! Who would have thought that a small pocket of air would cause such major pains?! Crazy. I did a lot of crying for sure yesterday but it was extremely painful every time I did so. I had to force myself to stop. But today I’m feeling a bit better so I’m thankful for that. They did make some incisions in the same place as the sleeve but then had to make a couple new ones. In total it was 4 incisions.
