I’m new to this site so excuse me for just barging in but I’m struggling. I had my gastric bypass about 2 months ago (July 23, 2019) I am a 5’1” female. My pre-op weight was 209.9. Things went great the first couple of weeks. No pain, feeling great and not even minding the liquid diet. Then at about 10 days when I was on thick liquids I couldn’t get anything in, had intense abdominal pain and a lot of dry heaving. I was rehospitalized for pain and dehydration. Discharged 3 days later and felt great again. My problem is this. Due to these factors my weight went down to 180 inside of 3 weeks. That was 5 weeks ago and I’ve only lost 5 pounds within those 5 weeks. I’m down to 175. I saw my surgeon almost 3 weeks ago and she and the dietician told me I wasn’t eating enough and that was stalling my weight loss. My goal is 80gms of protein and under 30 carbs a day (set by the clinic.)
I am getting so discouraged at #1 eating totally within my guidelines and not losing weight. #2 Being told I need to eat more and feeling like I physically can’t eat anymore. I’m eating 2 tablespoons of peanut butter a day (dietician’s advice) to try and get my calorie count and protein up. I’m trying to get 800-900 calories a day in. I’m starting to wonder if I did the right thing by having this drastic surgery done. The good news is I am diabetic and haven’t taken insulin or my 3 oral medications I was on since surgery and my blood sugars are perfect. My A1C went from 9.9 to 7.3 in 6 weeks.
Any advice or even just support would be so very welcomed. I’m glad I found this forum. Sorry this is long and winded. I had to get it all out. ~Robin
