Does anyone know where or anything about how or any info on a gastric bypass revision. I just feel like I need one. .
. I have been stalled out since the death of my husband. Any info would be appreciated.
Welcome to the group, Colleen. And congratulations on your commitment to yourself in the face of adversity. There are many people here who also have been widowed or abandoned and are feeling a lot of pain about that. I have suffered multiple deaths in the last year and recently, two deaths that knocked me on my ass.
I take it as a good sign that you are being pestered by something inside you that wants you to take care of yourself by having revision surgery. I really suggest you look through the posts here. There is a huge Archive of thousands of posts, many of which deal with revision surgery. It is so common, especially in people who have had lap band or other ancient surgeries that aren't used anymore.
And even though we function as a group, we do not share only one brain and we do not have only one opinion. It is very important for you to do extensive research. Our members will point you to books, videos and websites. Personally I prefer the Mayo Clinic's bariatric center for its information, as well as Rochester and Johns Hopkins.
But for grieving, I refer you to a beautiful little book that has really helped me:
How to Survive the Loss of a Love by Melba Colgrove, Harold Bloomfield, Peter McWilliams eBook Details: Publisher: Prelude Press 1993 ISBN/ASIN: 0931580439 ISBN-13: 9780931580437 Number of pages: 212 eBook Description: How to Survive the Loss of a Love is One of the most directly helpful books...
www.topfreebooks.org
You don't even have to buy it. It is free as a PDF file online and as an e-file in many places. And it is not simply a book for people who are grieving or trying to recover from divorce. It helps with every single loss in your life, including losing weight, which is often felt as losing your identity. And of course you would lose all that wonderful comfort food that you used to gorge yourself on.
I hope your spirit will be in Balance again soon and that you will realize that although a life has been taken you are still alive and your life has been given to you for a reason. If you contemplate revision surgery, the next step is to see a bariatric specialist.
