how long are plateaus.

The plateaus do feel like the drag on forever, but when you look at trends over time as you just stay on plan, you will see you are going in the right direction. And the comment about inches and other ways that your body shows it is reacting to the changes are all true!
thank i am definetly feeling better only 2 pounds but ill take it.
Best feeling, isn't it?? Your body had it's "reset" - now it's ready to continue to lose.. great job! Now, stay away from the scale for a few days!!! Haha

My surgeon has told me from the start to not focus on the number! He has said to pay attention to my body and I'll notice the changes. I am hitting my 11 month surgivarsy, on the 17th, and am losing around 2 lbs a week at this point. Which I am okay with. At my last check up, my surgeon was quite pleased with my weight loss and told me at this point my body will find the weight it is comfortable with. I have lost 132 lbs. Along this journey, I've had many plateaus, during those times I would try to focus on my body & not the scale. Like others have said, you'll notice clothes fit differently or you'll realize your face looks thinner. Remember to journal and get your protein! Not focusing on the number is difficult, and even at this point every time I step on the scale (Monday's only at work, no scale at home!) I am afraid the number has increased! I know that it's in my mind but the fear is real!! Good luck on your journey and congratulations for all the wins you've had so far!!
how long did it take for you to loose the 132 pounds? Congratulations.

I'll say 11 months, since my 1 year is next month! :) thank you
Im so happy for you i hope that i can loose that much. I guess right after surgery you think you are going to loose that weight faster. You think its a miracle surgery and you dont have to do anything for it to work. I was telling my boyfriend how long it was going to take me like a year to loose like 120 pounds he:s like your not eating much why so long.

I'm 8 months out, and I hit my "goal" so I am not trying to lose much more weight. That being said, plateaus lasted about 2 weeks, and then I picked up steam for another 4-6 weeks. It's all about your body adjusting to the new reality. The new stomach wiring (sleeve, bypass, lapband) and a significant drop in the food intake.
When did u hit your plateaus? I'm only 4weeks out and have been stuck for a week :(

Hi I am 6 weeks out I had Gastric Bypass i hit my plateau at about 4 weeks out lasted a little over 2 weeks. Then I lost 5 lbs within a couple days and now I am continuing to loose. I was so upset when i didnt loose but ppl on here and my doctor said was normal and you will have more of them as you go on.

Time flies after surgery! I can't believe I'm almost to my 1 year mark! I really started noticing my weight loss around my 6 month mark.. others noticed it before that lol but it took me awhile to adjust to it.. heck, I'm still adjusting!! Best of luck.

I am 10 weeks post surgery and went 2 weeks without losing any lbs per the scale.....i was worried that i was doing something wrong until i spoke to my surgeon and he told me to not worry about weighing myself........,my body is going through many changes right now and the scale does not tell you what is really going on.....more important be be positive and stick to the plan.

Hi Garner. I to went weeks without loosing weight but then after about 3 weeks i started loosing again and have stopped. I had my surgery on June 22nd and i am down 50 lbs now and 7 inches from hips and 5 from waist. So you can definitely loose inches but wont show any weigh loss on scale. Your doing great keep up the good work and for sure be positive.

And make sure you take your measurements and update them every week. Stay off the scale except for one check-in per week. Use the delight you will find in the measuring tape as a substitute for anxiety about the scale.
i totally agree at first i was stressing about the scale but now i have been looking at the inches i am loosing. I m out 2 months from surgery and have lost 50 pounds, hope i continue to loose at this rate.

ok so I have been craving something sweet what would yall recommend me to eat that wont make me sick?
I found One brand protein bars that have really satisfied any sweet tooth I get. They have peanut butter pie, glazed donut, and some other tasty flavors. The Premier Protein brand also has some bars that really taste very close to regular candy bars. I tend not to go for those because I feel like it is a slippery slope to start eating too many of them or try out the real thing, so I don't keep them in my house. The One bars though are a decent meal replacement, but if I want a little something sweet, I'll have 1/4 of one or something.

It's hard to recommend bars because I know people who love bars that I absolutely hate, and vice versa. I hope you like the One bars, but if not, I'm sure you'll find one that will suit you.

I make sugar free pudding, using ultra filtered milk, which is high protein and top it with 1 T. sugar free whipped cream. If you need extra protein, you can add protein powder. I'm thinking of trying to soft freeze it so it's more the texture of ice cream. I miss ice cream much more than I miss candy bars.
