How are you guys handling new clothes & sizing?

After my surgery, I started frequenting Goodwill. Forget looking at the sizes. Hold the shirt or pants up, or try them on. If they feel comfortable, get them. I am like you, I hate wearing things that are fitted; I like the "free flowing" feeling. Keep working on training your mind to...

    Bread

Ok, this sounds bad. No, I am not eating these things regularly. I ate a bite of bread to see if I could do it, and I ate 1/8 tsp of custard to check the taste before feeding it to guests. I think, what I am trying to get across, is that I don't seem to be having problems with anything that I...

    Bread

I am now 2 weeks out from surgery, and the first thing I have noticed is that I have 0 appetite, which is a help. Second, I haven't had any problems with anything I have eaten, even the few bites of bread that I have tried. No nausea, no indigestion, no acid reflux. I have even had a tiny...

    Taking your lunch to work

I expect to go back to work at the end of the month. I have always taken my lunch and now, I need to know what my lunch will look like. Will I always be stuck with protein drinks? How much is normally packed in a lunch? Should I schedule a visit with my nutritionist to discuss this? What...

    Confused!

I did go home on only two med. one diabetic and one heart med. the doctor thinks I will drop the diabetics drug within 3 months. The heart med I will be on forever, but it's better than 7 meds each day.

    Confused!

My BP was probably to do with a combination of my heart meds and the blood thinners they give to guard against clots.

    Confused!

A bit rocky. I can't decide which is more uncomfortable - my abdomen or my shoulder. Drinking doesn't seem to be a problem so far, but the walking is harder

    Confused!

Surgery was Monday - weight was 205. Came home yesterday and the scale said 219! Is this a result of all the fluids they gave because my bp kept crashing?

Oh good, I was beginning to worry about something new! I'm already a bundle of nerves with surgery scheduled for Monday, 1/6.

    surgery on the 7th

Ralph, you mentioned a calorie goal of 800-1200 calories a day. I eat 1200 calories a day now, before my surgery and am still overweight. Am I going to have to make a goal of 600 or less, in order to reach my goal weight of 130?

    Bread

I have read that several people have trouble eating bread and bread products. I was wondering if home ground wheat used to make home-made bread causes the same problems? I am now 4 days away from surgery and beginning to get nervous, wondering if all the things I enjoy now will be gone forever.

    Family help after surgery?

Family help aftersurgery? This is all really good information. I will make sure that someone else will take over feeding the horses, as I am pretty sure hefting a 40lb bag of food each day is out of the question. Same with feeding the chickens. :) I guess it's better to just wait until it...

    Family help after surgery?

Family Help after surgery So, after a week, I don't have to have someone in the house with me? Assuming, I am not repainting rooms, or cleaning carpets or something like that? We are trying to decide who needs to take time off from work. If I don't have to have anyone after the first week, it...

    Protein shakes

I started my liquid diet, expecting surgery on 12/9. Now surgery has been moved to possibly 12/30. Having done two days of the protein shakes using protein powder and almond milk, I HATE them. I am mildly lactose intolerant and really hate the taste of pretty much any kind of milk. I also...
