3 days post bariatric surgery

I just got home from the hospital and enjoying my bone broth and sugar free sorbet and jello. Glad to be on this journey.

Hi All,
New to this site. I'm going to have surgery { the sleeve} very soon and am nervous about the pain. Any advice?

Hi Yoyo- I had the sleeve 11 weeks ago. They gave me enough pain meds so it was tolerable for the following week. After that, I used extra strength tylenol. Some people get nauseous afterward. The doctor gave me a liquid medicine for that, but I never used it. Welcome! Keep us posted on your progress!

not sure.. that is what they gave me in the hospital and its sugar free.. so jello, broth and hormel sugarfree lemon sorbet

That's a good question, Tex. I just got my liquid diet forms from hospital is going to do my Endoscopy in July and it says,

No milk shakes or smoothies, no orange or pineapple juice, no milk, dairy, almond, or coconut milk.

The only juice you're supposed to have is apple and only clear Apple. However it does allow for popsicles that are made with fruit juice but have no fruit in them. That's kind of like sorbet. So Kat, what do you know?

well tex, when your in the hospital you eat what they give you and they gave me sorbet.. sorbet doesn't have milk and it was sugarfree. I also have a joes ice here and they have sugarfree but its not like the hospital sorbet and i am feeling a little sweaty and having pain when i am trying to drink my protein drinks.

When I was started on fluids day 2 I was never told or given clear. They gave me pudding, cream of mushroom soup, broccoli soup. Nothing clear. It really is amazing how different other Dr's and Hospitals are!

Hi Texnoble,

Thanks for the info. I normally do good with Tylenol, but I'm hoping it will be strong enough for the pain. My surgery is on 6-11-19,
this Tuesday. I will keep you all posted on how it turns out. Thanks for the Welcome

Lovalee, what sort of preparation did you have for the liquid diet or the phased diet? Did you have a list of foods that you could eat or were you told this in appointments or seminars?

I had both appointments and a list of ideas...I was only on clear fluids day 1 in the hospital then moved to full fluids,,,Everything I have been reading here and elsewhere, it seems my program progresses much faster.

I had the RNY 05/01/19 I am eating almost anything now.

Thanks for sharing. Maybe your diet was set up just for you, based on your health, based on your needs. It would be dangerous for people who had gastric sleeve or roux-en-y to be eating solids the day after surgery. I mean seriously, really bad things can happen.

Oh maybe I said someone that was misunderstood, I wasnt put on solid food. I was on full fluids day 2 then pureed food after day 10

Hi Lovalee! I was reading through your posts on here and would love to get an update on how you’re feeling now- almost 6 weeks post surg (pain management, what you’re able to eat, not eat, how much weight you have lost, overall mood etc)!
I just joined this group today and love to read the updates on progress and encouragements from everyone.

Hey KrazyKat, just wanted to know how you’re feeling now.. over a month since your RNY surgery& since I’m pre-op, I’d like some feedback on everyday life post surg.
