3 months Post Op

Hi All,
Well I can finally start using months in post op updates :)
3 MONTHS POST OP!! WOOOHOOO! I'm doing ok. I think we will be forever learning but as I watch the scale go up and down and stop, I am learning.
Learning to be concious of what I'm eating, concious of how much I'm eating. Learning when my pouch says "Girl you are done!"
One thing I am struggling with is, forgetting to eat if I'm busy I do not get hungry.
I'm learning that I do not have to finish what is on my plate. Learning to eat protein first, which is very strange because why bother putting anything else on it lol.
I am away with my hubby so no scale here, very nerve wracking for me but I'm getting through and being very aware of myself and how I feel. We went out for dinner 1 night and I was disappointed with my meal.. does Thai shrimp sound like it should be deep fried and breaded? Not to me, I had visions of a grilled shrimp in a saucy vegetable dish. I just did tge nest I could until I got home and had my coffee protein.
I have been doing chocolate protein powder in my coffee each day, morning and night and my thinning hair is beginning to reverse.
I'm finding more protein filled meals and creating my own substitutes for family favorites. Changing up recipes that sound good so that they fit into my new lifestyle and are healthier even for my family.

New stats as of leaving honme my weight was 208.6 (from starting 244)
Pj size Xl
My size 18 pants I finally got back into are now loose
From shirts 3x down to 2x now they are loose but most xl are still snug so I'm sticking with loose 2x for a bit. If I can find 1x I may try that :)
Hope you all are feeling great and learning as well.
Please post your updates, struggles and nsv.

Finally also fitting vitamins in except I hate the chewable calcium.

Sounds like you're doing really well. Protein in coffee is an excellent move, even my nutritionist agrees .. And she is anti-coffee!! Hope you are enjoying your vacation.

At 2+ years out, I am a still trying to remain in my 5lb range. But I used to get up to 163 and work until I got back down to 158. Now it seems I am going up to 165 and being careful until I go back to 163. Still not awful, but I don't want to allow my high to become my permanent low, so I am committing to getting back down to 158.

Thanks, I'm trying. You sound like you are doing great!! I am with you on the high being the new low.
I think it takes alot of work to see what can be changed and what we did to get that move.
I do have to place an order for more protein powder, I do not want to run out. It guarantees me 50 grams a day.

Also, I'm going to post in recipes a protein packed recipe that I saw on create with Lidia that I did change a bit as I usually do lol.
I will get that into the recipe section today.

Such a great update!! I'm with you on all those things except for forgetting to eat. I'm down 47 since January and 37 since I started my pre-op diet, surgery 05-18-22. I feel good, I'm active, hitting my goals mostly. There are days I miss my protein a little or should have gotten more fluids in but I'm doing okay. I have learned WHY separating drinking fluids from eating solids is good. I had my first dumping about 2 weeks ago. I was craving some cereal and added a little (too much) milk instead of sprinkling a little bit of granola on my Greek yogurt. It went straight through me within about 20-30 minutes. I'm also thinking the sugar content of the cereal, coupled with the natural sugars in the milk, were too much. But I had to learn the consequence of food moving too quickly from my pouch to the small intestine. Now I know! My bowels can still be unpredictable at times, but some of that is learning what to eat and when, especially if I'm going to be out in public and may need a restroom without much notice. Hair loss...I'm noticing it quite a bit in the past few weeks. Every time I run my fingers through my hair or comb it I seem to come away with 3, 5, 6 strands. It's good to hear that yours seems to be reversing. I'm hoping that mine is also short-lived. My hairdresser told me that while I have very fine hair, I have a lot of it, so I'm hoping that helps me along the way. I asked my husband last night how he'd feel if I went bald. He stopped what he was doing and came over to hug me and told me that 1. I'm not going to become bald, and 2. It wouldn't change how he feels about me if I did. I guess I was feeling sorry for myself and the unknowns worry me at times. I've been shopping in my closet! I tried on many pants that I haven't worn in recent years. Throwing them all in the washer and most of them will get donated! There are a few that I can wear now but many of them are too big or my style has changed and I wouldn't wear them even they fit. I am a dress girl and have a lot of summer dresses in particular. There are quite a few that will last me through the summer season and then will be donated. There are some I've tried on and went straight to the donation box as they are too big on me and some that I wore one more time and then it's washed and set aside. It's kind of bittersweet as I love my dresses but it feels so good to remind myself that I don't need that size anymore and even if I love it, maybe someone else will also love it after me. Plus, eventually I can buy some new things! I did buy 3 new dresses in smaller sizes from Chico's Off the Rack that I've also been wearing this summer. Their sizing is different and their size 3 fits me well which is probably comparable to a 16-18. It feels good to have some properly fitted to my shrinking body. I've been reading about wardrobe capsules and as I need to fill in some new wardrobe pieces as my size changes into the next season of clothing, I figured that's a good place to focus my needs on just a few new staple items that can easily be mixed and matched until I get down to a more sustainable weight. Our office has a water cooler that uses those 5 gallon jugs of water. Each jug weighs about 50 pounds. I was thinking the other day as I was walking up the stairs that it used to be like I was carrying one of those 5 gallon jugs full of water around with me all day. Amazing point of reference!

Hi Kat! Amazing job! It's fun to go through clothes now. In our place here in the country, I went through my closet. Lot's of stuff to donate as I'm into the stuff that was small last year. Did the same at home and still have more to go through there.
I'm right behind you on the loss. Your hubby sounds like a doll! Good for you for having such a supportive and loving partner :)

The hair comes back!! I know its a bit horrifying when its happening. I bought a 'messy bun' ponytail wrap to just add some volume until it started growing back. I have thin, fine hair so it got pretty transparent before it started coming back in.

I also had a very hard time giving up my old/buying new clothes. You should've seen my breakdown when my usual brand stopped having underwear in my size LOL Change isn't always easy. You'll get a new style for your new body and then.. Look out world!!
