Well, my wife and I are spending a relaxing weekend in Big Bear, CA this weekend with some friends. Today we were walking through the Village Concourse, and everyone was hungry. The three of them really wanted to eat at a restaurant called Himalayan, and Indian Cuisine restaurant. They all turned and looked at me simultaneously. I told them not to worry, we could eat there, and I would figure something out.
So, in we went... my first choice was an Indian chicken soup. When I asked the waiter if they could put it in a blender and puree it for me, he looked like I had insulted his wife AND daughter. He just looked at me with a scowel, and shook his head "No!"
So I perused the meny while everyone else ordered. I chose several items that I could mash up. Here is what I ended up with:
Aloo Govhi - Spicy cauliflower and potato curry
Aloo Palak - spinach and potato
Butter Chicken - chunks of dark meat chicken in a tiki marsala sauce
Shrimp - 1 shrimp from a mixed grill platter.
I was able to keep my portions of each down to 1oz or less, and after 30 min, I had eaten about 5 oz. And I was just fine not eating more. Although, that butter chicken was AWESOME. I cut it into little bites, and chewed forever.
All-in-all, it was a great meal, with great friends, and we had a great day in Big Bear!
