Good morning! My name is Valerie and I have finally bit the bullet and completed all the steps to have surgery. Due to an insurance snafu, I have to wait until after August 1st to schedule. So far the diet changes have been pretty easy that the nutritionist has asked me to do before surgery, but I am running behind on giving up coffee. I love coffee in the mornings. I am slowly trying to drink less and less, but some days are harder than others. I will get there though!

I am feeling really confident about this choice. I have always been a bigger person my entire adult life and know this is not an easy fix. GLP's are good, but they aren't long term solutions, and that is what I am looking for. What is the BEST long-term effect you've had with your surgery? What is the WORST long-term effect you've had?

I come from a long line of family members who've had gastric bypass. Both my parents were type 2 diabetics, and I am now in the prediabetic range for the first time in my life at 44. Thankfully, I am VERY healthy besides my weight and that has always been the case, but in the last year I've gained around 50 pounds and cannot lose it no matter what I do. I just don't feel good in my body anymore and I am not able to do the things I want to do. This is what flipped the switch on this decision.

Thanks for reading friends! Valerie
