Did anyone over 500lbs had success with their surgery

April, I was at 503 when I started my journey. That was in 2018. My doctor would not perform the surgery until my BMI was in a safer place, due to my other health challenges. (Kidney disease, diabetes, lymphedema, heart murmur, high blood pressure, thyroid, etc.) It took me 18 months, but with help from the dietitians and doctors, and encouragement and support from my family, I was down to 408 at my pre-surgery appointment on January 8, and had RYGB on Jan 28, 2020. I am 367 now. When I finally reach the lie I told on my driver's license, we're going to party! Lol. It took a long time to get this far, and countless times I was ready to give up. Turns out I am tougher than that! Good luck on your own journey. We're here to support you.

Wow, congratulations! You've come so far already, you're an inspiration. :) 136 pounds gone and well on your way to a healthy life!

I just weight over 500 lbs I just want to know has anyone had success with the surgery

I started my journey in April 2019. I weighed in at 541 at that time. I started changing my eating and exercise behaviors during the six months of nutrition classes I had to complete. A week before my surgery date (2/14/2020) I weighed in at 450. I believe if we follow the guidelines provided to us and use our new tool properly, we can be successful; the surgery alone will not work.

I was lucky as I had a very smooth procedure and am recovering quickly. I’m sure there will be difficult times, but we have a great support system here with lots of experience and resources to share.

I have my two week follow up appt. tomorrow. I’ll let you know the results.
