Diverticulitis, Barretts esophagus and Gastric bypass

Going thru the process of seeing if I qualify for surgery. I have Diverticulitis and barretts esophagus. My team tells me they need a sign off from my dr before getting gastric bypass. Anyone tell me if they've been turned down?

Hi Stewy- I had the sleeve not a bypass, but I have diverticulitis and that was not an issue. I can't identify with Barret's. Many people have GERD probs that have gone through the operation. I just signed onto this forum as of March. I have heard of approvals being delayed for further testing, but no denial. Good luck to you and keep reading these posts!

I was told I had to have the bypass as the sleeve would make my gerd stuff worst.

Bypass helps with reflux. Acid reflux is what causes gerds.
