Had my operation on June 17th. I had to be dropped off by my husband and check in and stay at the hospital with no visitors. It was fine the first night because I could not keep my eyes open even if someone was talking to me so I slept all night. The next day they brought in all my medication pills ( I have 9 of them) and I had to take them on an empty stomach. That was a bad decision because I was so nauseated that I could not even keep water down and a blinding headache. No matter what they did, I could not get rid of the nausea. Finally had a shot of Benedryl and was able to sleep for a couple of hours and woke up MUCH better, but I could not eat the liquid diet from the hospital. My taste buds have changed and the sugar free jello that I loved before is too sweet to me now and the broth was salty. I had to spend a 3rd night at the hospital because I didn't eat enough. Finally on Saturday I woke up all better and got to come home. Being home is wonderful because at night no one wakes you up every 4 hours. I did question my decision to have this surgery (gastric sleeve) the day I was sooooo sick, but now I am happy that it is over and I am mending nicely. I really never had any pain from the small incisions so I just have to do the correct food choices. I can eat 1/2 cup of yogurt or soup and be extremely full. Good luck to all of you who have your surgery coming up.

Congratulations ! Glad you’re dong good

Hi, I had my sleeve done in January and like you mine was good. I could take the chicken broth and protein shakes. And like you that was the most miserable night I ever spent! every couple of hours someone would come in to check my blood pressure, blood sugar, temperature, or wake me up to ask if I could sleep. And on top of that the bed was too short, hard and lumpy. The next day you would have though I was a track star. If I didn't have that IV rack and was circling the floor I was sipping water like a camel getting ready to cross the desert. 3 o clock that afternoon I got to come home. And yes my taste changed somewhat, most things I still like, but I don't really like most junk food anymore. but I just can't eat nearly as much anymore. What is next????? The great feeling when you have to throw away clothes because they are to damn big!!!
