Hello All,

I'm Laura and looking forward to joining this very supportive group! I appreciate how everyone is so supportive and I hope to return the favor! I'm 2.5 weeks post op and feel very weak. It's not as bad when I'm sitting down but standing makes me feel dizzy at times and today felt like I was going to faint in the shower. Had to jump out and grab a towel to sit down. I'm hitting my water and protein (barely), and taking my supplements. Is this just my body adjusting? My surgeon said that last appointment but I don't see a lot of improvement. I guess I'm just wondering what others encountered around this time. My main incision where they pulled my gallbladder is still pretty painful but I'm told that will get better too. I have an appt. with my nutritionist tomorrow but I'm hoping I'm not getting dehydrated since I have been drinking. Thanks for any advice you might have!

Laura

I am 7 weeks post op and had this issue with getting dizzy off and on. My nutritionist told me I wasn’t eating enough or often enough. So I increased my calories and eat every 2-3 hours. Makes getting protein in easier and the dizziness has stopped for the most part. You probably aren’t able to eat much, if at all, yet but having what you can have at whatever stage you are at every couple of hours might help. Hopefully your nutritionist will have some words of wisdom for you too!

Thank you Mandy. Can I ask how many calories you are getting now? I'm only getting about 500-600.
My husband thinks I need to also eat my first meal earlier. When I got dizzy this morning, I had not eaten yet.

Thanks again.

I am about the same as far as calories go, but I spread it out throughout the day. I also have a protein shake or something to eat as soon as I get up. Then I wait 30 minutes and start my fluids. I don’t do much activity wise until I’ve eaten and started drinking water.
