Good greetings to all!

My name is Amanda my journey began back in 2016, when my surgeon recommended RNY to me due to stage 4 Esophagitis. My Starting weight was 224 and within 1 year, I lost 104lbs within the first year. It wasn’t healthy weight loss. I couldn’t eat anything without having pain. I ended up with an infection after surgery that required emergency surgery. I’m very fortunate to have a better chance of surviving cancer because of the surgery but I’m having issues with my appearance. I’m 44 my partner left me after my surgery and I’ve been alone since. My insurance won’t cover the skin removal surgery to help me feel better about my body. I’m also having very low energy levels and have developed anemia. I’d love to get to know others that have been through this surgery that can share ideas with me on how to help myself feel better about my appearance and help me with motivation to take my vitamins and hydration correctly.

Amen! I have my RNY on the 20th, I'm very excited! I had my sleeve in 2018 and "overcame" it. I know the value and gift that I'm getting this time. And a hernia repair. Without God I would be in a mentAl dungeon.

Hi Amanda, it's amazing how many of us share the same problems. My boyfriend became distant after my weight loss and then I discovered he was flirting with other women online and ultimately, hooking up. I really haven't had any other committed relationships in the last 15 years or so. However, I've evolved to the point where I never want to be married or living with a man again. Seems like it's rarely an equal relationship. Mostly, I'm just happy to be with me.

I had to be very deliberate in order to drink enough water and take my 22 pills every day. I measured out my water and kept it in the refrigerator. At first it was daunting to drink by the glass. So I just used a spoon, sat down and "ate" it while watching tv or reading. It worked well for me. I also had a Kamelbak water pouch for hiking, with a long tube that had a "bite valve" at the end. That was absolutely wonderful. I could strap it on when I went to the YMCA to work out.

As to taking my supplements, I bought little plastic boxes with lids and measured out my pills a few weeks in advance. I took photos of these and posted them below.

Based on absorption rates, I timed my intake. For instance, calcium cannot be effective without spacing the 500 mg maximum dosage apart by two hours. I take three doses a day for the RDA of 1500mg for a woman my age.

Doing things like this REALLY helped me.
