Gadgets - Zero Gravity Chair

Some people find these comfortable for sleeping in the early days of healing. Some "standard" recliners can provide a "zero gravity" position.

I have a zero gravity chair I like that I got at Amazon for about $90. Can be used indoors or out and very portable from one room to another. Easily folds to stow away when not wanted but sturdy when in use.

I believe Wayfair sells the same one for a little less.

There are other brands/models available and prices go up to several hundred dollars.

So tell us about sleeping, why is it diffucult to sleep on side etc after the surgery? Does it matter if it is Sleeve or gastric bypass. While I am on questions, what is the difference between Minigastric bypass and gastric bypass or is Mini gastric bypass another name for another surgery? I have had to sleep in semi lying down position due to GERD which I am hoping will get better after the GBP surgery. Also, did most of you have your gall bladder out with the surgery or no?

Sandie, when the doc did my EGD he said my gall bladder was fine so he did not remove it. He also told me that people who lose weight so fast often develop severe gall bladder stones and often have to go back for surgery. He gave me a medication to prevent that from happening but I just couldn't take it as it gave me bad side effects so I am taking my chances. You are supposed to take it for six months. So far, so good and still hoping that I won't develop any GB problems.

Also I got an electric easy chair because of my bad shoulders. It took me about a week and a half before I dared to get into my bed not because it hurt to lay down but because it hurt so bad to get up since I had three hernias repaired as well. Didn't matter which side I was on or if on my back.

Qaterra, I know just from looking at that chair that I could never get up from it with my shoulders, and previous knee surgery. Nice idea though and I am sure many could use it. Nice of you to point it out.

Qaterra, have you had your surgery yet? Explain MBP surgery, what is mini about it? How is it different from actual Gastric Bypass?

Sandie, I have a very large gallstone that may or may not give me problems, but I am opting to have my GB out the same time as WLS, just to be done with it.

There are many here who can answer your questions from personal experience. So, I will leave those questions to them. As to the Mini Gastric Bypass, it is a variant of the rny pioneered by Dr. Robert Rutledge about 15 years ago.
