I am new to this forum- Quick intro on me- RNY Bypass 2008- heighest weight at 290.. maybe above that a bit. Obesity runs on my dad's side of the family and I am also not a big fan of conventional exercise, to be honest.
Post Op- lowest weight was actually during my 3rd month of pregnancy at 168. I didn't look good though, my bones were sticking out- the baby took all of me and I had to force myself to eat everything per my Dr orders. Had my daughter and had only gained 1 lbs overall during the pregnancy of a healthy 6 lb baby! (so I had essentially lost 30ish lbs while pregnant)
Had another child again in 2014., this time I gained 10 lbs, so it wasn't as bad on my body and I had "bulked up" a bit before getting preggo to have more nutrients to give the baby.
After 2014 I have struggled to keep the weight off now. Yo-yo dieting every year for a few months, typically low carb/Keto when I get up to 200-210 and loose weight usually down to 180. During my divorce was the lowest at 170 in 2017.
Since then, I met my new hubby and I have really really struggled. I know this is a mental game for me. I drink beverages when I eat (a no-no) I snack at my desk (a no-no) I eat crap at home sometimes like popcorn or chips at like 10pm when I finally crash to watch the news. . I have a desk job all day, so then at home I rarely sit down until I crash in bed. I have 3 kids and 6 pets so I am always busy cleaning and stuff, but I KNOW it is the daily mindless eating at my desk that is not helping at all.
I am at 212 now.. I had gone back on keto in Feb-May, I lost only like 10 lbs and regained it quickly. I wasn't loosing like I used to. I have tried Phentermine last fall and that helped mentally for about 2 months. I then quit smoking this past January... that didn't help at all.. and I got the arm birth control implant (not sure if that has any reason?) I haven't been able to get a handle on this anymore. Im jsut going up and up and up.
I am terrified of getting any fatter. My jeans are hard to fit, I have huge back fat rolls, I have muffin top, I don't feel attractive anymore. This causes me to eat more. Maybe a good self-help book?

Give me some real opinions.. a swift kick in my ass is ok.

I know this is mental. lot easier said that done, right?? One thing I KNOW helps, is if I eat protein without drinking. Like a piece of turkey or steak and It just sits in my pouch.. that horribly uncomfortable feeling.. makes me not want to eat for hours. Anyone just done this to help retrain themselves ? Sometimes it works with macaroni noodles too.. they like expand and it is horrible, but I would rather do it with protein since my body needs that and not carbs.

Any other ideas? Ephederine Stack? chew gum? that ad I see on Instagram for a pill that makes things not taste sweet? any other crazy ideas?
Like I said, I am not one to get to the gym, I have kids and cant take that kind of time alone. I could do online stuff in my basement at night, usually I am outside landscaping or cleaning, etc though. I think the weight will start dropping off if I just eat less. But all I can think about is how I am hungry! (but am I really?)

thanks all!

Hey Angel! Welcome. You've come to the right place for support. I'm a Lady-in-Waiting (elective surgeries to open) so I can only help with pre-op stuff but I know a whole lot of wonderful people on this board will have suggestions. The one I've read before is to go back to your post-op eating guidelines.

Hi Angel and welcome to the group! It sounds like you have been through it all. Congrats on the first step of seeking out help and admitting things are working as is. It is hard to acknowledge that. But at least you are willing to listen and make the changes necessary to get what you want.

I will agree with you and say the snacking is probably one of the main things contributing to your regain. Have you thought about doing a pouch reset? One of our resources page talks about a pouch test to see where you are and help to reduce carb cravings and so on. You can find it here. Go back to basics and restart your way of living. Remember, it isn't a diet you are looking for. You are looking to get back to the healthy eating habits you acquired when going through the gastric bypass.

On that same note, if you know that snacking is your downfall, change up the snacks so they are healthier options. Eat some sweet peppers with a simple dip (take a container of ricotta cheese and mix with ranch seasoning), or grab a handful of berries or an apple for something a little sweeter. Stay away from the chips and other items that have all the chemicals and sugars in them that are not good for you. You have the willpower to do this. I know this because you have done it before.

All the things you think about the way you look? Use that to push you into action. If you aren't happy, make the hard choice to go back to healthy eating. You will thank yourself down the line if you do. :)

I wish I had an answer too but I will agree with Misdarmitage if you g and start over with a pouch reset or go back to what you had pre op and post op eat healthy snacks i hope you can get back on track . I’m at least glad you are reaching out with this support group you can learn a lot from all these good people
