Insomnia , anxiety, increased heart rate

I am 3 mo post op sleeve. I cannot sleep which in turn in I believe giving me anxiety nd my heart rate is increased. Just an overall unwell feeling.. have spoke with dietitian, seen Dr ( which was pointless) and spoke with nurse.. they don't have feedback.. just wanna know is anyone experiencing this?

How wise of you to go to the professionals first, and then turn to those who have gone through it before you. For me action calms anxiety.
I have been an insomniac for decades so I understand that lack of sleep can lead to so many other issues.
I am the opposite., since my sleeve nearly three weeks ago. I have never sleep so soundly both at night and naps. Praying mine does not return.
How frustrating and marvelous at the same time, how our bodies speak to us in unexpected ways after surgery.
Praying for you and hoping some of the experienced and wise here have an answer for you. When you overcome this, share how you managed.

Why can't you sleep? I find that anxiety makes me sleepless, not the other way around. While there are lots of reasons post-op that you might have anxiety, there's not an obvious reason that you can't sleep after surgery, which is why I ask. Are you having problems following your post-op diet or having other issues involving the surgery?
We pretty much throw it all out here in this group .. anxiety, depression, bowel habits you name it. So, if you'd like to share a little more, we might have more feedback to share. Hope you feel better soon.

I have times where I can’t sleep, but the first few months after surgery I slept crazy deep. I think it was because my body was just done with everything from the day plus still healing. Now when I have a few nights of rough sleep I take a Tylenol before bed which helps. I’m having more joint pain in areas where I wasn’t pre op. I’ve started seeing a chiropractor for those issues though, so hopefully that will be resolved in time.

My sleep has been all over the place since surgery. I have more energy which I think is part of it but other times because I have more energy I over do it. I will go in patterns of very little sleep and be wide awake well into the night and other times crash in exhaustion.

If you are struggling with anxiety and panic I suggest trying to do some kind of meditation particularly before bed but it's also good to start your day with it. There are lots of guided imagery work you. An do to help contain the anxiety when it happens and return to baseline much faster as well.

I too have had epic sleepwalking episodes over the decades--some scary and others funny in retrospect.

Through the years I tried to turn my racing thoughts off with nature CDs, relaxation exercises, yoga, chamomile tea, etc etc etc. Some helped but I could not totally eliminate my insomnia. The only difference post surgery that I can find is that I have nearly completely given up caffeine and sugar.

i was never a coffee drinker, not a chocolate fan nor was sugar an issue for me. But when I eliminated cola over a year ago, I started drinking hot/cold tea all day long. My Dr could not explain why surgery itself would make a difference except the stress and recovery of surgery on the body is different with each of us.
