Hello, I have had my first appointment with the surgeon and scheduled with the psychiatrist and nutritionist. I will be paying cash so do not have to deal with a lot of the insurance requirements. Once I am cleared with the psychiatrist I can schedule the surgery for March. I have been on a "diet" for 3 weeks now with low carb, calories and fat. I have lost 6lbs. I was recently diagnosed with COPD and placed on oxygen. I live in Colorado so everywhere here is high altitude which is difficult for me. I hope by losing the extra weight I will be able to get off of oxygen and stay in the state I love. If I asked what is the number one thing you wish you would have known prior to surgery, what would your answer be?

I did so much research beforehand that I can't think of any questions I had. I watched many YouTube videos of people who had surgery, and several of them did videos about what they wished they had known, or no one had told them.

Do your research on thd different types you csn get and outcome year after that helped me pick the bypass im main thing is yes you will loss weight with surgery but your craving will not go away and that is hard!!
The pain is pretty bad not gonna lie but every day get better and better

there are a number of videos on u-tube like, 10 things I wish I knew before Bariatric surgery, listen to what they say, they have been through it. For me, I heard getting the air out of your system was painful, but I didn't realize how much. believe me you will want to get up and walk.

Don’t just jump in. Take the time to make long term changes before surgery. My insurance requires 6 months of weight management and I am glad because I have had time to adjust and change to what life will be like after surgery. I have been able to work on my relationship with food and change mindsets. I changed to 1200 calories and no more than 50 grams of carbs and 80 grams of protein. I have lost 17.2 lbs in 5 weeks. The more you can lose before surgery the better your surgery and recovery will be. This surgery is a tool and it takes a lifetime commitment to changes for it to work. Read and read and read some more to understand what you are getting into.
