Hello everyone! This is my first post. I am having a bypass done. I finally got my surgery date, July 6th. I am nervous, excited, and anxious all at the same time. My Dr was telling me I am going to need some support and I think the only way I'm going to get it is though a support group, so here I am!

Welcome to the group, glad you’re here!
Getting to your surgery date is a huge milestone, and it makes complete sense to feel nervous, excited, and anxious all at once.

You don’t have to go through any of this alone. Support makes a real difference in this journey, and you’ve already taken an important step by reaching out and connecting here. Take it one day at a time, you’re exactly where you need to be right now, and you’ve got this.

How exciting! Welcome to the group. There are thousands of stories here and the posts have been archived for decades. Keep us posted on your journey because we really want to know how you're doing.

Thank you, everyone. They called me today to schedule my pre-op testing. I have the phone appt Thursday and the labs on Friday. One thing that will be really hard during this pre-op diet is that we are going to see my family in Florida the week of the Fourth of July. So that means no eating and no "drinking".....

I just had my surgery yesterday and I am glad it is over. I am feeling some pain and discomfort, but nothing intolerable. Keep a positive attitude, especially during the pre diet week before. You gor this! You can do it!

Oh June! Keep us updated! I have to go tomorrow for the pre-op labs and testing. All this is kinda sinking in but not really if that makes any kind of sense at all. I'm sure it will more so when i have to start the diet, but right now... I cant really explain it

Well, I had my surgery this past Monday (2 days ago). I am home and pretty sore. I've been trying to walk and get my fluids in. It feels like I am swallowing a brick. I am trying to take smaller sips but even those feel like they are landing pretty hard on my stomach. I am drinking chicken broth, clear protein, and apple juice / water mixed 50/50. I might try some jello for supper tonight but im kinda nervous.

Something that worked really well for me was drinking my water by the teaspoon. Not only did the amount feel like I was drinking air, but it gave me the sensation of eating something like soup or stew. It really worked well on my head.

Congratulations on your surgery!
