I just wanted to say Hi, and thank you for accepting me. I just met with surgeon a couple of weeks ago and I did a bunch of blood work last week. I have my first dietician appointment next Monday. Very excited to get moving. I am glad I found this support group I think I will need it a lot. I am on day 22 of not smoking so a few more day and I can get that test out of the way.

Welcome to the group. As a former smoker, in my opinion, quitting cigarettes was a lot harder than changing to a healthy diet. I still want a cigarette all day, every day, though I don't miss sugary or fatty snacks at all.

You might try some sort of meditation or affirmation to shift your focus away from the physical details of smoking and onto self-esteem. I had one that went like this:

I am beautiful, inside and out.
People will perceive me as beautiful because I am beautiful.
I become more beautiful every day.
I am stronger every day.
I am Light.

There's a great affirmations book I've mentioned here a dozen times called "The Only Diet There Is." It's easy to read and the mental exercises are sprinkled throughout the text. Believe me, it is an awesome book, and I believe it's available in *.pdf form for free all over the Internet.

Welcome! It sounds like you're off to a great start and checking off requirements. Congratulations on 22 days smoke-free, that's a huge accomplishment! Wishing you all the best at your dietitian appointment next week and as you continue through the journey.
