Hi all. I am just starting my new journey. I am very excited about this new tool in my life long weight loss. I am a little nervous and a little scared. I need this weight to go! I am not healthy and want to be healthy. My first consult is next week. Any advice? How long before surgery?

Welcome to the group! Scheduling that first consultation is a big step! You will get a lot of questions answered during that meeting but I expect as you go through this process you will also have new questions.
The timeline varies a lot depending on your surgeon, insurance requirements, and whether any additional testing is needed. The pre-op appointments, testing, nutrition visits, and other requirements feel slow, but they are designed to help set you up for success and make sure you're as healthy and prepared as possible.
Some people have surgery within a few months, while others take six months or longer. I was on a 6 month path to the sleeve but pre surgery testing discovered gallstones. My gallbladder needed to be removed which delayed my bariatric surgery and added 2 months to my wait.
