looking for any advise

I am about 2 months pre-op, I am looking for any advise anyone could share. I haven't shared this with my family and friends yet not sure if that's the right thing but I feel like i need support that j wouldn't get from them.

I would have a conversation with them and let them know you would like the support not grief. Not that they would. I am blessed to have the support of my whole family. I explained I was in need to get healthier and not the fad diets. you can give them all the information. If they have questions beyond what you know, invite them to come to your next appointment so all there questions and concerns can be addressed. Let them have some websites to do a little research for themselves or show them what you have learned by showing them the info you found. that you have made an informed decision. Hope that helps.

I understand what you're going through and it's hard to know who to trust. When I shared my decision with my GP she tried to talk me out of it. My therapist was very disapproving, she's rail thin, of course, and my daughter was concerned about complications. It wasn't easy but I stood firm with all of them, focused on the benefits to my health, and eventually they all came around. I shopped Amazon for books that would let me know what to expect. The more information I got, the better I felt about my decision. The day before my surgery, a friend who was 6 weeks post op said I'd feel like I'd done a real heavy ab workout. I could handle that! I'm coming up on 2 months post op and I've lost almost 30% of my excess weight. My blood pressure is way down. The new way of eating takes a lot of getting used to, but I don't regret it at all and I don't think I ever will. I use an app to log what I eat. Something I read said that ups your chance to be Successful. No matter what anyone says, it's your life, your health. You can do this!

I'm about 6 weeks postop. I have an amazing support system with my husband and the surgical team is awesome. I have not been to any support group meetings yet. Will in the future. I hope to make some friends and get advise and support thru this forum.

Thanks for the advice. I really just feel like it's not necessarily something i need to share just yet with them, I'm doing it for me. I guess s big concern I'm dealing with now is I'm afraid of looking worse due to lose skin, how has that gone for everyone?

I've been told by a few people that strength training can help with the loose skin. I think building up the muscles tightens up the skin. Not going to get rid of all of it, but should help. I know one gentleman who lost close to 300 lbs and does 1000 sit-ups per day. You can't see any loose skin on his stomach area.
