Making me uncomfortable

Boy Karen - you asked the exact question I've been thinking about for months !!! Personally,I don't want to say I had surgery , because that'll open the flood gates for discussion . If I get a compliment , I think I'm just going to say "Thanks -I'm glad it shows. I've been eating healthier lately" and leave it at that. I'm actually hoping to NOT get any comments :) ( yeah,I'm weird) LOL

You don't own anyone details you don't want to share. I'm pretty open to people but I get frustrated when my husband starts sharing in front of me. It's my information to give or not. So I told him that. He's been pretty good about it. (I am in the hospital now, one day post op)

I love all the previous responses. Personally, I had not struggled with compliments until after I had lost and gained many times. I almost felt like that one person who complimented me once was going to know if I had gained then judge me. I had always been really good at crash dieting or obsessive workouts until my body physically couldn’t do it anymore and I gained and gained etc…
I’m also a little nervous about people noticing me after surgery. That nasty shame demon likes to get in my head and play tricks that can rob my joy. I think my plan is to just smile and say “thanks” then “I like your new hair cut!” Or “did you get a tan?!” Lol. Honestly, it really isn’t anyone else’s business what we have done, and we aaaaall know that someone thinking surgery is the “easy” way is clearly unaware of the process. There is nothing easy about it. We are all on a journey whether we have had surgery or not. Let your light shine!

I know this post is weird but want others advice. I am very uncomfortable at taking compliments. I know when I lose all my weight there will be a drastic change. When people say what diet did you use what is a good response. Don’t think I need to go into detail. Any advice?
Same with me, Karen. Seems like it's something we all struggle with. Great responses from everyone! I'll definitely put them to use!
