I haven't been on in a while. Life went crazy.
I was on vacation and got a call that my brother was legally brain dead. Packed up and headed right to the hospital. As an organ donor they keep on you life support until they can arrange everything and do surgery to remove your organs. It was 4 days of complete torture! Organ donation is a wonderful thing but man does it really drags things out. So far we know that he saved the life of a 71 y/o woman with a kidney donation.

I am the middle child of 3, having had 2 brothers; both of which died in their 30's!! It is so depressing!
I couldn't eat, or sleep, or even remember to drink. Today is my "weight check" day and I even forgot to do that this morning. But I managed and yesterday was the first time since I got the news that I hit my protein and fluid goals, so moving back into the right direction.

My 3 month post-op mark is coming up next week. I plan to retake measurements and looking forward to the results.
I had lost 96 lbs as of last time I weighed so I am pretty sure I hit the 100 lb mark by now! Exciting! A few people have noticed and said something about it which is nice to hear sometimes.

I was with my friend and her husband yesterday and she is preparing to have WLS also, I mentioned something about surgery and her husband looked confused and said "you have WLS" I said yes, and he said "Oh, that's why you are looking so good". I was kind of annoyed by it. I responded" No, I am looking good because I am working my ass off!" I really don't think he meant it the way I took it, but every little thing seems to be getting to me while under this stress of my brother passing.

Ok- enough of my rambling!

I hope everyone is doing well and I will update again at my 3 month mark!

So very sorry to read your news. I am back on for the first time today after a week away, too, and trying to catch up on how everyone is doing. I am also the middle child of two brothers and lost my older brother in 2018 at age 53. I can't imagine the feeling of losing both of your brothers at such a young age. Please give yourself some grace during this time of stress and grief. Happy to hear that you have met your fluid and protein goals again. You are doing awesome. It is a reminder of how life will continue to happen and we need to continuously evaluate our coping skills that for many of us had been food to some degree. Please accept my sincere sympathy. You've been such an inspiration to so many of us newbies. We're here for you, too. Hugs! XO

Oh my that is very sad to hear about your brothers. I do admire his choice to donate his organs. Medicine is amazing in things it can do today. Knows stress can throw you off track and glad to hear you are bringing yourself back into focus in spite of the difficulties. May you find peace as you go through the process of grieving. My thoughts are with you.

So sad to hear about the death of your brother. It is truly a test of your strength and resilience after the loss of a loved one. I’m glad that you are getting back to eating and taking care of yourself. 100 pounds is so amazing, but it probably feels so trivial after what you’ve been through. You and your brother both did a wonderful thing!

Oh I am so very sorry to read about your great loss. Although it was awesome to know he was an organ donor, I'm sure it doesn't ease that pain. Thank you for sharing what a true hero your brother was.

And your progress is so inspiring. Good to know you are still on track with your water and protein. I am guessing you will get a big Woohoo at your check-up. Please continue to take care of yourself, and may the start of your healing begin soon. ❤❤
