Monday Morning Disappointment --Surgery Cancelled

Well, this morning, I got a call from the Dr's Office (I had a pre surgery appt with the surgeon today) my Dr.s appt was cancelled and my surgery on Wed was cancelled, due to the virus. They said the decision came from the hospital that no elective surgeries were permitted until further notice. Right now, it looks like they will be scheduling surgeries beginning in May. I am beyond disappointed, I am sitting here with tears in my eyes, I am so ready. I am on day 6 of my pre surgery diet, eliminated coffee and all fats from my diet. Also, my mind is ready. I have been reading and re-reading so many posts and ready to join you all on the other side. I called the surgery co-ordinator to try and schedule an appt as soon possible when this terrible virus is over, but she wasn't in her office. I imagine the hospital/doctors employees are extremely busy with this latest news. FYI, I am in New Jersey.

Aww, I'm so sorry! I know you were so ready. I know there's nothing anyone can say to lessen your disappointment, just know that we're here for you.

Sorry!!

This is a gut punch, but try to treat it as a longer pre-op period. You've got 6 days of your new diet under your shrinking belt, use the additional time to lock the good habits in. You can do this.
On a funny note, I asked the surgery coordinator nurse who called me back to "tentatively" reschedule my surgery, if I only have to go on my pre-surgery diet one day since I did the first six. After she stopped laughing, she said NO WAY!! So, my liver will get another shot at getting rid of more fat!!

That's too funny, so glad you have a great since of humor to get you trough this. :)

Hi Lisa, Sorry about your surgery being cancelled, also. My new date is April 29th, but I don't think it will take place because not much has changed and I live in New Jersey. We are only behind New York for cases and deaths. Doesn't look good. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this terrible pandemic is soon over and we all remain healthy!!!

I'm still hopeful for you for the 29th but completely understand your doubts. You sound like you're in a healthy place with it all. I guess it's the best all of us can do.
