Hello! I had bariatric surgery almost three years ago now I went from 316 down to 199 now I have crept back up to 237 I need some good support, advice etc. I am a boredom eater so the less I do the more I eat and I'm afraid I'm going to gain all my weight back if I'm not careful.

Welcome! It’s great that you’re looking for support. First thing I’ll ask is if you’ve been in contact with anyone from your surgery team. Maybe connecting with a counselor in the office or dietician could help get you back where you want to be. Are you tracking and getting your protein? One of my biggest roadblocks is grazing out of boredom. I have to remember to ask myself: am I going to be honest with myself and track this and is this worth the calories. Some grazing, especially high protein snacks, are ok because they’ll help you feel satisfied. Most of us struggle with food addiction, I am definitely one of them, and making sure you have the resources to support you is key. Ask yourself why you had the surgery in the first place to get your mind back on the path. I am confident that you can get back to where you want to be.

Welcome! Knowing what triggers you have is definitely helpful in combating the regain. It is impossible to always be busy. I did come across one person on another group that ended up using her son's fidget spinner to keep her hands busy and off food when she was in boring situations. She found that it worked by accident one day - inexpensive item to try?

Haha, I've even popped bubble wrap.

For me, I avoid the daytime grazing by getting outside and either working in the yard or going for a walk in the neighborhood. I'm retired so I have options not everyone has. If you are at home and grazing, find a task that keeps your hands busy, inside or outside. The advantage of yard work is an increase in exercise and reduction in eating, a twofer!!

I also find myself less hungry during the summer because of the heat. I don’t like to eat when I’m hot, so I end up drinking a lot more water.
