I just recently found this group. I'm hoping somebody has the same problem as I do. I developed sever reactive hypoglycemia about 8 months after my gastric sleeve w/ duodenal switch surgery. My endocrinologist explained it was caused by the surgery. I have other issues related to the malabsorption and malnutrition cause by this type of surgery as well. Did anyone else develop reactive hypoglycemia?

I am 9 years out from RNY. I lost 80#. I’ve let myself slip back into old habits. I’ve gained back 40#. I am dealing with reactive hypoglycemia. I’ve often struggled with it since surgery but it’s getting worse. I’m thinking I’m going to need to see a endocrinologist or someone. It started happening after I would eat sugar. I could control it by avoiding sweets. Then I could connect it to not eating enough protein. Now I can’t second guess it. Today I got up and drank my iced coffee, just like every other day. I had been up a couple hours and I started feeling the symptoms. I fixed me 2 eggs for protein. I guess I went to long without enough protein?! It is very hard to predict. Also, I feel drained afterwards. Weak, headache. I thought at one time that it could be a type of seizure but Dr advised me to take my sugar each time and I did for awhile to confirm it was dropping. It was. It dropped to 50-70. Any advice and experience would be appreciated!
