Newby on board!

Hey all,
I had gastric bypass about 15 years ago. Needless to say I gained a lot of weight back, I believe from stress and anxiety. I just started eating as much as I wanted to and my pouch is now a bag. Lol. So, I kept having a hard stomach and developed a gastro gastric fistula which was not allowing my food to digest. So, bariatric surgeon did Endoscopic over stitch or stitch over surgery. Hoping this gives me another chance. I'm 55 and out of shape @231 lbs.

Welcome, Roxanna. thanks for sharing that. You had RYGB? I had mine 12 years ago & have always wondered how people gain their weight back. But I assume it's just a real concerted effort, eating small amounts as often as possible until you get it done. Is the overstitch really going to work? what about the Fistula? is it still there?

I sure hope it works!

The fistula has attached itself to my pouch. So, the doctor separated it, there was a hole left, then he did the over stitch to repair. To my knowledge, what happened to me was a reversal of my bariatric surgery and the over stitch closed the hole up and he made the pouch smaller again. I will find out more August 14 and will let ya"'ll know what he thinks. I was half out of it when he discussed with me and I have no idea of what the pictures he gave me are.

Welcome Roxanne. I’m new to the group as well. I have not had my surgery yet. Although, I have not had the same experience with gaining weight after surgery, I do know what it is like to be stressed and in pain and to eat through the pain. Today is a new day and yesterday’s over. Begin where you are today and go forward. It sounds like this is exactly what you are doing.

A year ago I went through a divorce (twice from the same person). My divorce was finalized on the 20th of July. My parents anniversary was on the 23rd, so I drove from Oregon to be here for their anniversary, 7 days later my father died unexpectedly in a car accident on his way home. I now take care of my mom. I don’t say this for sympathy, but to emphasize that we cannot change the past, we can only learn from the experiences and then move forward armed with our new knowledge gained from our experiences. Best of luck and again, welcome.
