Gratitude: Website
Without a doubt, this one right here. I appreciate ALL of you!!!
And I know that your 5 lb weight loss is all you and not one of those "magic" scales! Lol
Thank you for sharing your weight loss of 12 lbs over the past 2 weeks. That makes me feel a whole lot better about losing 10 lbs in a week. That's not much different than your prior 7 lb loss. Yay, we're a couple of losers. Woohoo!!!I also lost 7 the week before. I can feel the difference as I was really starting to feel that regain slow me down, otherwise I would have questioned my scale too!![]()

Those were the good old days! You have a GREAT attitude Karen! And if it just so happens that the numbers keep going down in big jumps like that, remember Kathi's scale? She was just magically melting away until the scale said "No more, I can't take anymore of this!"Then Kathi bought a new scale. Hopefully yours will be fine.

I agree with you totally!Judy, something that worked for me was switching calories drastically. Eating healthy portions of yogurt, cottage cheese, broiled chicken, etc. every day put my metabolism to sleep. One day I ate a greasy cheeseburger with mayo. The next day I went back to healthy eating but at my next weigh-in, I'd dropped pounds. Every time I plateaued, I broke the plateau by eating high-fat, low-carb food for one day.
It works every time.
The opposite might work, breaking a plateau with a day of fasting, then back to normal.
But I want to encourage you--and everyone--to study metabolic science. It's fascinating and helpful.
Even doubling your water intake can help break a fast. I can't remember the scientific term for starvation protection, but its something your body does when it is suddenly deprived of calories. You can bet your body notices any big eating shift. Static eating can pretty much cause a stall.
Best of luck to you.
Your granddaughter looks so much like my daughters at that age! Maybe it's the pain meds, but I had to look twice! She's a beautiful girl!Friday - Day 11

Gratitude: Tradition
My mother: Baking Christmas Cookies and handing the love of doing that to me. (My sister was the better cook but I was the better baker!) To be able to give a platter of your homemade cookies out as gifts and see their smile is priceless. One year I couldn't make my cookies and did I ever hear about it! LOL, I don't mind because I know how much they look forward to it.
I have kept certain favorite cookie recipes that my mom made and call them traditional recipes. In other words, must make! I feel my mon's presence when I do. She passed away over 30 years ago and is missed dearly. Then I have a few of my own favorites that I've discovered on my own and I try to add one new recipe each year to try and see if it bumps one of the others out. (But none ever bump out the recipes from my mom!) That makes for a lot of cookies and a lot of gifts. The challenge these days is to not be tempted to eat them, that is so hard and I admit that I had more than a few last year. But it is a season that only comes once a year!
And in passing down the tradition, here I am teaching my granddaughter (when she was 5) to bake as well...
