Hi my name is Eric. I'm 1 year and 9 months post RYGB surgery almost to the day at my heaviest I was 400lbs++, I'd never stay on the scale to let it settle, I would always jump off when it hit 400. I think to date with trying to lose pre-surgery weight and post surgery weight it's close to 200lbs and I think all I have left to lose is saggy skin. I'm not trying to lose any more fat, I've reached my goal. I'm considering the skin removal surgery. Has anyone had it done and if so could you please share your honest experience. Because with the surgery I both regret it for some of the negative I still experience but also I'm eternally grateful for all it has given me and would do it again without hesitation because although the surgery had complication that could have killed me, my life choices at the time were killing me. I just want to make an honest choice of whether it is worth the pain and trouble to go through the surgery.

Hi Eric,

I hope you are doing well. I'm still pre-op for sleeve bariatric surgery. However, I lost 121 during the pandemic, thought it would stay off forever, and had a tummy tuck because I had a huge amount of skin sagging down and causing me great discomfort. The surgeon weighed the excess skin he removed from my lower belly area: 18 pounds. Even though I gained back 102 pounds and now I'm back to losing weight again because I'm still morbidly obese, I most definitely do NOT regret having that skin removal surgery! That was a very healthy and positive decision for me. I hope you make the decision that is best for you. Take care.
