I lost 100 pounds and kept it off for almost 2 years. We had to go to be with fiancee's father, just before Thanksgiving and stayed until January 9th. The stress from his father's 2 brain cancer surgeries, chemo and radiation treatments while trying to provide meals for between 5 and 30 people who are all related. Needless to say, carb heavy, low veggie, higher fat foods are cheaper to feed the hoards. After we got home, getting back to my post bariatric surgery diet has been extremely difficult. His Dad is still sick and undergoing treatment for his brain cancer. My pre-surgery pattern of eating to deal with stress has made it super difficult.

Anyone got suggestions to help get back on track to lose 100 more pounds.

First of all, stop blaming everything on your fiancee's father. It's bad enough he has brain cancer. Why should he be responsible for your weight gain?

Once you're in a realistic place and you know it's YOUR responsibility. visit the past where you lost the 100 pounds. Take your post and make it into a list: low-carb, high-veggie, lower fat foods are your shopping list. Ignore everyone else and all the stress in your body, tell everyone you are officially OFF DUTY, call a cab or a limo or pass off your shopping trip to a professional and get your kitchen stocked with the good stuff. Drop "extremely difficult" and "super difficult" from your train of thought. Once your cupboard is stocked, set aside an hour to create portions from your groceries and once it's all done, REEEEELLLLAAAAAAAX and start planning your meals.

We alone are responsible for what goes into our mouths. We're responsible for how much time we let ourselves lapse into negativity. No one can make us overeat or spend time as couch potatoes. Many of us felt our lives had gone out of control and then... we had surgery to help us put a stop to it all.

So maybe you feel mad at me right now, but there's no need to feel mad at anyone, including yourself. Make that list. Stock your larder. Prep your meals. Recite affirmations. You're the boss. You forgot that for a while, but it only takes a second to take back the control.

Congratulations.

Would a glp-1 like Zepbound be something you could try for losing weight and then maintaining it?
