Quarantine snacking

Thank you Diane for the reply. I’m sorry to hear everything you and yours have been dealing with. You’re right, I’ve been given something huge, and I’m alive. Quarantine snacking is not a thing. I need to be stronger than my strongest excuse!

I’m going to give some thought on how I can give back.
Thank you for the help and the hope!

Hi, Birdie, I have many days when I'm just waiting for my next meal. I don't act on it, but my mind plays the game with me. I look at where I am and say it's worth it.

My 1 year surgerversary was on March 11th and still often I find myself thinking about when I can eat again, many of us will never loose the eating disorder, all we can do is keep fighting it. Overeaters Anonymous is a great group to look into once the quarantine is over. What I do is meditate. When I think I want to eat, I take that half hour to meditate and then I forget about food after, for at least a while.

There is also an online support group I've been posting about: In The Rooms: An Online Addiction Recovery Community

I joined because I'm a alcoholic in recovery and the quarantine has brought up the temptation to drink for the first time in years. It's crazy to me that in NY liquor stores are considered an "essential" business. But that's my problem, not NY's.

But anyway, when I joined that group, I was shocked by all the different kinds of meetings they host online. Not just alcohol/drugs but codependency, nutrition/health/wellness, there's even a meeting for coronavirus support. That's just listing a few. You can just listen in and even share if you feel like you'd like to. Lots of people who are in trouble right now have someplace to go and I'm so grateful for that.

I been buying protein one bars from walmart, same maker as fiber one. Tiny, 90 calories, 10g protein, vaguely resembles a sweet snack and does a solid job of curbing further snack attacks. They are filling despite their size. They are cheap, 5 bucks for a 10 pack. And they arent good enough to want more than one.

I have also ramped up my activity level the past month doing run/cycle/walk every day 6-8 miles total. I do a hard activity early in the morning then walk in evenings. It really helps keeping me focused on staying healthy after doing exercise.

Hey it’s a real struggle trust me lol my current job has a ton of snacks every day! I call it the snack box! I try to exercise more and I’ve started using Arbonne products which have really helped me with feelings of energy as well as helping me get back on track. We’re here for you!

What a great thread this is. I've learned so much.

I've not had surgery yet so keeping the hunger down has been a trial, especially since my husband has a sweet tooth. I've found that I can satisfy my craving by making cookies and having a bit of the dough and leaving the eating of cookies to my husband. lol. Poor guy! I have to stop this behavior because I'm not gaining but my DH sure is. o_O
