Hello, I am a newbie as well. I had a lap band put in 20years ago and they took it out on Monday, July 13th and did a bypass. What was supposed to be a 90-minute surgery turned into 4 hours because of all the scar tissue that had developed. I was 40 when it was put in, now I'm 60. The band slipped a few years ago and I had severe GERD with esophageal damage but didn't have insurance coverage for bariatric surgery so nothing was done. It's only been a week, but recovery is considerably harder this time. I was doing fine for the first several days but the fake sugars in the protein shakes are now causing me extreme bloat and pain. Called MD and was told to discontinue shakes for several days. Right now, I am just staying hydrated and had a bit of cottage cheese. I feel like a horse with colic. I get where you are coming from! I know in a month it will be better but right now you question your choices.
