Round 4.3 a huh

Went to a new doctor today. He been doing wls for 28 years. He told me to never drink again. It hit me hard. I never had a surgeon tell me this apart of life after revision. Anyone else going because dry for life due to revision? He had tears in his eyes! He has lost several patients due to crossover addiction.

I was not told I could never drink again. I was told we are way more likely to develop a problem with alcohol due to the different way it affects our system after surgery. I do drink. But have not found myself craving alcohol or needing a drink.

Here I was looking forward to being able to drink again. I love sitting in my yard with my dogs, the radio on and having a couple drinks. After eating - that's the only pleasure I have left ! LOL

I'm a lightweight when it comes to drinking LOL . 2 is my max and I'm ready for bed. Even my surgeon laughed when I told him that. That is my little pleasure now but who knows - everything is subject to change. I'm trying really hard to get my brain ready for Change ...

My dr told me that the gastric bypass will affect alcohol intake. He explained it as being absorbed quicker then passing through your system quicker. So you don’t feel the influence as long. I have had some of those airplane alcohol premixed Long Island tea and mudslides, and margaritas. I never really cared for margaritas….I have mixed the Long Island tea with my fit and active tea from Aldi’s on my birthday but never more than one bottle Per day in a 30 oz cup.

My doc also told me to be careful with alcohol intake. Recently I went on a cruise, and I did have a few mixed cocktails, and was okay/fine. I am not a regular drinker, and feel my risk to develop a cross dependency/addiction to alcohol is low.
