Hi fellow travelers, I had my gastric sleeve about 3 years ago. I started out with enthusiasm and much success. I quickly lost 80 pounds. My hair began to fall out by the handfuls and my face looked so wrinkly and old, I chose to slow down. In addition, I was hoping for the side affect of back pain relief but was disappointed. I ended having to have back surgery anyway. Since my sleeve, I have had increasingly strong upper abdominal contractions which in turn pulls me forward, making my back pain even worse. No specialist has been able to help me in determining what this phantom ab pain is, that doubles me over in pain and paralysis. Anybody hear of or experienced anything like this? I'm reaching for every straw I can to seek health.

Hi.

I guess they failed to inform you to eat jello cause the key ingredient helps prevent hair loss. I'm so sorry for your struggles. I don't believe your pain is phantom but actually has a point of origin. I hope they put their heads together to figure it out. Does the pain come suddenly at random and in any position you're in?

Seriously Carolyn? I didn't know Jello had a key ingredient for the hair loss thing...

Melanie, have you asked your surgeon or doctor if there is a possibility that your sleeve has had some type of issue with it? Could some of your sleeve have backed up or twisted or kinked or anything? Could your now 'floating stomach' be getting stuck in your rib cage or causing additional problems? I would think a scope, scan or ultrasound would let you know fairly quickly, but your doc would need to find out. I hope they find something soon, sounds painful. :(

Yes. Keratin.

Thanks so much for the suggestions Pixx but yes, I actually convinced my surgeon to go back in and get my gallbladder as well as checknfor scar tissue that may have been binding my
me up. There was scar tissue, which he cut, but that did not resolve the issue. Grrrr. Oddly enough, the only thing that has released the pain was when I fell and fractured my sacrum in twomplaces. That lasted about 2 months but then the cramping came back. Hmmm, no one knows what to say.

Carolyn thank you so much. It's a different feeling, like I did 1000 crunches and was then asked to do 100 more. I just can't hold myself up.
I've been thinking of you. I hope things have gotten at least a little better.
