Hi, I’m Stephanie and I had my bypass 13 years ago next month. The most weight I ever lost was 45 lbs. Since being at my lowest weight of 183, I’ve gained 40 lbs back and I feel completely defeated and don’t feel like even trying anymore. I’m lucky to be in good health and mobile. I just don't understand how I’ve let myself go down this path again. Anyhow, thanks for listening and hope to get some good positive feedback and ideas of what you did to improve your journey.

Hi Stephanie, congratulations on your successes.

What really helped me--in fact, saved my life--was learning how to use affirmations. I really rejected "good positive feedback" from anyone who offered it. I had been thoroughly brainwashed, mostly by my mom, out of believing I was worthy of love or attention. I mentioned this book that helped me in a previous post: The Only Diet There Is, by Sondra Ray. It really makes it easy to start telling yourself how much you deserve health and beauty and success.

I wish you all the best.

Don't give up!! Just start over and do everything they tell you to do.

I try to keep my macros at the levels below with a 995 calorie budget:
Protein 50%
Fat 30%
Carbs 20%

The nutritionist helped me with this and I usually go over a little every day on the carbs, but there is no way around it. I focus on protein, water and limiting carbs but for example, my breakfast is 29g carbs (41%) and all I have is a protein shake, and all my vitamins and fiber. The nutritionist told me that at some point I was going to get annoyed with the vitamins and fiber because of how much of my carbs it takes up, but they are important so I continue to take them.
