Looking for a mentor/support before surgery.

Been one heck of a new year. Been battling neck out of adjustment and migraine and blood pressure rarely. The migraine has been interfering with my normal thinking. Best friend advised calling dr for migraine meds. I opened my stored med box and found 2 prescription from dr in box. Took meds then went and did normal shopping, felt like myself finally. I even got everything I had on my list including dog sweaters. Supposed to snow Friday and Saturday.
I have made progress on the sewing projects. Made 17 large masks. Cut 6 medium masks. And cut the material for 1 grocery tote. Still need to cut interfacing for tote and medium masks

No bad thoughts Diane my masks are 3 layers outside interfacing and liner. I am vaccinated and boosted. True not N95 quality but still useful. Plus they are washable. I still think the 6-10 foot space distancing from other people is good. Was supposed to meet with the personal trainer from the YMCA to work on an exercise program tonight, Got text today that he tested positive for covid. Reschedule for after that. I can honor his caution.

I heard the same about cloth masks but you can wear a cloth mask on top of a disposable one for extra protection. There are so many pretty cloth masks out there and I'm sure that yours are beautiful Roni. Also if you can make a pocket in the mask, there are disposable filters that can be inserted into the mask. Some cloth masks that you buy come with them, so I am sure you can just buy the filters.

Today was my annual check up from bariatric surgery, Tuesday was my 1 year date. I have been stalled on loss since December, today I weighed 3 pounds less, very happy dance. Been better at logging food but not water/fluids, but I know I am drinking a gallon about every 36 hours, cause I have to make new batch of drink. Spoke with dr about half my hair is missing, she said she could see growth and told me to give it a year. We talked about my stiff neck, migraine and dizziness in January. She used to work with a neurologist and gave me information to talk to primary doctor about for testing.

My sewing projects are progressing well. I have made three aprons, one for a friend with two pockets and pen holder, then two for me one for inside and one for outside. I have made three totes 2 for shopping one with no pockets, one with pockets on the ends to hold spare bags, and another for my pool stuff. I also took apart a damaged gaucho skirt used the pieces as a pattern, worked from memory of making pants, I now have a navy blue gaucho skirt size 18/20 ish and pattern pieces to make another if I ever want to make another. I was behind on my annual Harley Davidson patches on my denim jacket had all the way back to 2014 to put on, got caught up and then some. On the one tote for the pool stuff, it has six pockets, to hold, a towel, sunscreen, snacks, sunglasses/goggles, drink glass, spare filled drink bottles.( thinks I will keep some frozen). I did get to use my snowblower twice so far. It is battery operated uses the lawn mower batteries. Been switching focus to setting outside goals such as pruning trees; well lilac bush, apple tree cherry trees. Made two aprons with 7 pockets to hold the batteries for the mower, weed eater, chain saw, and leaf blower and also the spare spools for the weed eater. Next sewing project is a organizer for a walker, making 2, one for an online friend and one to keep on hand if needed in the future for me or husband. Also have pattern for sewing machine cover and table organizer. Also have material for a second gaucho skirt I am thinking I am going to try to make pockets to go in it. I have also been sorting and trimming up some hexagon quilt pieces. Been rescuing them from the basement from before clean up. And I have a request for a small face mask.

Friday is visit to husband’s dr. They are talking valve replacement since they only did repair in October. He is not holding down food, it doesn’t taste right, not sleeping, exhausted from sitting and watching tv, trouble with breathing, gasping like, weak, no strength can barely walk 20 feet without getting winded.Yesterday he got exhausted helping replace three of the screws in doggie door flap. It only has four screws total, did put longer ones in and nuts on the outside of the flap.

This is my summary for my first year. Be fun stay optimistic.

Yesterday was deal with snow and shopping day. I have a new battery operated snowblower I just got this year, I love it. It does a great job not too heavy or awkward to use either. Today is husbands dr appt for echo to see what they can do to help him. He is a very grumpy person when not feeling well. Will post more layers.

They are not talking surgery right now for husband. They are switching up his meds to move fluids through him. They say his blood is regurgitating at his heart because of fluid retention. The heart is affecting his kidney function and that is causing the problem. The weird part is his feet and legs are not swelling for him to push the one med for fluid retention. Spent Saturday tired never did get nap but did fall asleep earlier than normal, it was take the papers in to get taxes done. Yesterday I spent washing like 15 - 20 loads of laundry. That was just taking the knee deep clothes/bedding off his floor. I still have probably 5 more loads to go. I am pulling his size 38 jeans and most of his size 36 jeans which are too big for him.. he is between 32 and 34 in size right now. I even have a load of whites and jeans for me in the mix. Yesterday I made baked cake doughnuts with two scoops isopure protein. It was a box of cake mix with 2 cups applesauce and the two scoops of protein. That was a meal with three doughnuts. Well back to the business of putting his room to order.

I love my legend tshirt folder. I have done over 70 tshirts since yesterday. Pulled 15 shirts with holes or cut off sleeves, may be able to salvage some parts of the shirts for backing denim quilt pieces. Now to look up projects for the jeans that had holes. No I will not own a pair of shredded/cut jeans. Will make good pieces for a quilt. I am so tired of laundry.

Please don't take this the wrong way but I never know how people end up with so many loads of laundry to wash at once. I don't even think between my wife and I we own enough clothes to wash 20 loads. We typically wash 2 loads a week. Adding the linen load periodically.

We’ve got 5 people in our house plus 6 pets. If I don’t do laundry, at least 3 loads a day, daily, I end up with that much. Even when it was just my husband and I with towels and linens, I still usually did a load every other day. Miss that until the weekend, and it adds up.

I get more people, more laundry. But 3 or more loads a day? You figure it is 5 outfits? I think some people use a new/clean towel with every shower. I don't do that, we use it for a few days and then wash them. I also re-wear jeans before I was them (1 or 2 times), but pretty much everyone I know does that. Adults anyway, kids are too messy. haha Maybe I just don't wash clothes correctly? haha For example, I was towels and linens together but don't separate my actual clothes into colors or "tag instructions". We don't really have white clothes, so I just throw everything in and wash it together. My FIL washes everything to the instructions on the tag and he washes like 700 tiny loads of laundry every week. He lived with us for about 2 years and my water bill actually DOUBLED in cost because of how many mini loads of laundry he did.

He was “washing his own clothes”. He knows how many loads it is taking me To complete this project. There are 15 pairs of jeans with holes or repairs needed. Most of those will be cut down to make a denim quilt. Started doing research On the quilt last night. And there is at least 10 - 15 pair of pants in the too big size in a give away pile. It appears that as he shrunk he just replaced clothes and left the old ones laying around. This started all the way back in 2014 when I was commuting for work and only home on the weekends. I thought he was doing his own chores but I was wrong. Just never really took the opportunity to address this Before. I also spent a lot of time last year going through my own clothes from when I commuted to work and the boxes of clothes were in the basement. He said he won’t let his stuff get that bad again. I am working on getting with a thrift shop to do try to do some exchanges for smaller clothes for me. Hoping two items for one will work. Time will tell. Well time to finish the whites, he had 16 gal bag with socks in it. Instead of washing and sorting them and folding them, he was replacing his socks. This too is going to be addressed. Well off to get a storage bin for the socks and other errands. I am good I can do this.
