4 month check up

I had my 4 month check up today and all is going well. I have lost 52lbs.
I am stressing about the holidays at my in laws. They have more sweets than any place I've been to before. They are crazy about pies, cake, fudge, peanut clusters and usually a bread of some sort. Then let's not forget the tamales that we eat every Christmas Eve, I may have to eat one of those and hope it doesn't make me sick. Nothing has really made me sick other than ice cream.

HW: 193 lbs
SW: 179 lbs.
CW: 144 lbs
GW: 120 lb I cannot quite decide on this, I keep changing my mind so maybe I will just go with whatever my body decides.

Doc goal: 110 lbs.
Nut goal 130lbs.
I am only 5'1" though

That is AMAZING!!! You are doing so well :) The sweets around the holidays is a tough one. I am the person who usually bakes all the sweets and hands them out to friends and coworkers... but not this year! Have you thought about making something that is bariatric friendly and taking it to pitchin? That way you have something you can eat that isn't as horrible for you and might help curb the temptation to stray? I have found a recipe for brownies made out of black beans and pumpkin pie that the crust is made from SF oatmeal cookies and pecans. I can always pass them along if you are interested!

Either way, you are doing an amazing job and all of your hard work is paying off. Congrats!

Congratulations honeysgirl! Are you a sweets-eater who will give in no matter how hard she tries to avoid temptation?

Something I do, which probably isn't anything anyone else would want to do, is if I have a food I'm obsessed with, I will destroy it. I will literally put some on a plate and then take forks and knives and spoons and just vivisect it! I cut it open and expose its insides and mash it and just allow myself to start to believe it is really gross. I would no sooner eat that food than I would volunteer to do someone's autopsy.

Of course I've never tried to do this with candy because I don't know where I would look to find anything gross about candy. But it would work with me about cakes and cookies, especially if I imagined what they would look like after I chewed them and swallowed them and they were so slimy and disgusting in my pouch. Aversion therapy worked really well for people who wanted to stop smoking 50 years ago. And that is my version of aversion!

So do you have a protection plan set up for the holidays? I think that everything we do after we have surgery is something that we have to commit to doing and sometimes we have to write it down or even just express it aloud before it becomes real.
That is an amazing form of aversion! I love it :) That is definitely a tip that I will have to try out when my next temptation arrives.
