6 month post op

Hello all! I just had my 6 month post op with my nurse practitioner. She's beyond pleased with how things are going. I've lost 81lbs since surgery, 74% of my excess body weight (which usually doesn't happen until a year after surgery), I'm under 200lbs, and most of my labs look good. She'd like me to aim for 80g of protein a day now instead of 60g to help with my energy, and my vitamin D is low normal so she wants me to take an extra 1000. I might be going under the knife again in June if my irregular periods don’t stop, it’s honestly shocking that I’m not anemic, but there are still more conversations needed where that’s concerned. Other than that, everything’s going really well!

Awesome! Glad your appointment went well. Sorry you are still having those female problems and I hope there is an easy way to resolve it.

I had my cardiologist appointment today and she cut one of my meds in half, that is after I already had one totally eliminated a couple of months ago. She is very pleased and that makes me happy! And when she asked me if I was exercising, I enthusiastically said YES! I even parked my car in the last row by the entrance before my appointment. Who is this person who use to use her handicapped permit?

That’s awesome!!

Wow! You're doing amazing! I'm so happy for you. It sucks that you might have to have more surgery. I hope you have seen an OB/GYN for a second opinion. Fast weight loss can and does cause hormonal changes but those hormonal changes can also trigger other issues.

The weight loss and my Hashimotos are definitely contributing to the irregularity, but it’s been going on a long time. It’s always been controlled by birth control pill or an IUD, and now it’s totally uncontrollable. I’ve got a few options, but I’m leaning towards a long term solution to an on going problem for the ease of it all. It’s been a struggle and is weighing on a lot of areas of my life.

Sorry to hear that 3mom. I'm sure you are fed up with it all and I certainly don't blame you for wanting a long term solution. Good luck with your decision and hope whatever you decide to do that you feel better soon.

Thanks all! I’ve gotten a few more blood test results over the weekend, and I’m sure I’ll be hearing from my nurse practitioner early in the week. My Vitamin A is low normal and my Vitamin E gamma is deficient. Not sure if she’ll want to control those with extra supplements or food. The low E might explain the tiredness.
