Hello everyone!

Has anyone with the sleeve experienced acid reflux? I am in month 5 post op, cruising into month 6! Recently, I've started to have reflux - after drinking water, my protein shakes, eating protein.. it has become frustrating. I never experienced this before surgery! I have a follow up appointment in April, so I'll definitely ask my surgeon. I am just curious to see if anyone else has had this issue!

Have a great day everyone!!

Reflux is a very common side effect to the sleeve. I have slight reflux, and my mom has GERD, so that’s one of the many reasons I am leaning towards bypass.

I had the sleeve, and my surgeon told be AR was a definite possibility. He said if it got severe, then the answer would be to do the complete bypass.

I am 5.5 weeks out from surgery, and have only experienced mild heart burn a couple of times, mostly when I switched from liquid to puree. My Surgeon prescribed Prevacid for a stop gap, and we are monitoring how it goes

Yes, it is extremely common with the sleeve. I had to have a revision to RNY 2 years after my sleeve due to reflux. I wish I had had the RNY from the start.
