I don't know anything about bariatric crackers, but I have found that with certain nuts and crackers a serving equals a lot of food. You could maybe have nine crackers for 100 calories or something and a reasonable amount of protein. However you never get the ratio you're supposed to get of 10 grams of protein to a hundred calories. One thing that was really disappointing though was how few nuts you could have compared to the offset of calories. Nuts are a good source of protein, but they are also high in calories and not necessarily worth it.
I do however chew nuts very very slowly so they last a long time. Usually though I just use them for garnish.
I agree Dianne, I'm disappointed about nuts. When I started following LCHF I used to carry around 100 calorie packs of almonds for a quick bite instead of being tempted to hit a drive-thru I thought I was doing everything right. I'll have to come up with another solution once my hunger returns and I run into these situations again.
