Hi. I just scheduled Sleeve surgery for October. I’m very nervous! Will I have much pain afterwards? Just looking for some insight from others whom have already undergone Sleeve surgery.

Welcome Look. I'm currently working on a surgery schedule. Arizona is getting ready to start doing elective surgeries. I've chosen the bypass. My GI insisted since I have acid reflux and the sleeve makes that worse. There are lots of sleeve people on the site and we all love to share.

Hi Lookin! Welcome! I had sleeve on 2/13. There was soreness and gas pain for me. Walking and a heating pad help a lot with the gas discomfort.

Welcome! I had sleeve in 2015, and had to revise to bypass this past August due to development of severe GERD (it is a high incidence complication of sleeve, but not widely talked about until after the fact). Pain is manageable - I did not use the Rx painkillers once I got home, just regular Tylenol. Biggest things to do are hydrate and move. You will feel like you are constantly sipping at first, but it is SO important. Moving helps with the gas pain that you get from the laparoscopic procedure.
