How’s everyone doing?

How did the holidays go for everyone? We have a lot of new surgicals on here, just curious how it all went. Anybody into New Year resolutions? I have a goal of kicking up my exercise and strength training now that I’m 3+ months out and down in weight, and most definitely, feeling so much better!

My NY resolution is to try a new recipe every week. I had gotten into a habit of basically eating the same food all the time, to meet my protein goals. That got boring (after 2 years lol) and I've started eating less healthy foods.
As I am determined to not gain back the weight I've lost, I need to find new, delish foods to eat .. Until I miss my old ones lol

I know what you mean by getting in a rut to meet your protein goals. I got a menu board that I hang on my wall and try to plan our meals a week ahead and I’m constantly on Pinterest looking for new ideas. So far so good, my husband has actually lost about 20# since I had surgery. Why am I annoyed by that, haha!

Great idea about trying 1 new recipe a week! I also spend ton of time online searching for new ideas. I had my 3 month postop appt a few days ago. I’ve lost 75 lbs - 30 preop & 45 since surgery. The exercise physiologist said the goal for bypass is 70-75% of excess weight & that I’m at 88%. He said I am good at 150 lbs, but could lose 5-10 more if I want. Said any more than that would likely decrease my bone density. Women are much more prone to osteoporosis so I don’t want to risk that. I am very happy with my results so far & am in size 10 pants which I haven’t worn in prob 40 yrs. But I went clothes shopping yesterday and am still in XL in shirts & sports bras (some of those even too tight at XL.). I guess I thought I would be in size medium everything. Most of my weight was in upper body - think Gru from Despicable Me movies. Exercise physiologist did a new customized kick ass workout routine. I’m thinking that may help tone & firm upper body.

That’s awesome! I went shopping the other day as well and found it so motivating, I wasn’t even sure what size I was. I’m down 65# total and sounds like I’m the exact opposite of your body style. Now size 14 pants (from 18 W) and large tops (was 2xl). I’ve completely lost my boobs, haha! As far as exercise, being from Northern WI, I’ve been limiting it to snow shoveling. Mind you, we got 2 feet in just one storm so, excellent source of cardio/strength training! I wish my team had an exercise physiologist, I’m on my own as far as exercise.

I’m very happy with my team & the comprehensive program at my surgeon’s office. I see dietitian, exercise physiologist, & nurse practitioner at every appt. And I’m right there with you about completely losing boobs! Thank god for padded bras.
