January challenge

January 5th

Grams of Protein: 98
Ounces of Water: 64
Daily Steps: 8125
Mindful Eating Choices:
Made poached eggs, instead of scrambled for dinner. Saved myself the calories and fat from milk in the eggs and butter to coat the pan. Plus, I adore poached eggs.
Self-Care Decisions: Had a lot of anxiety yesterday so when I got home, I took a long, hot shower put on cozy PJ's and read a book until bedtime.

PS> I was told no gum due to all the air you swallow while chewing, which can cause bloating and gas. As I have had not had that issue, I go ahead and chew gum once in a while.

Wednesday, Jan 5

Mindful Eating:
No
Protein: Yes
Water: Yes
Exercise/Movement: No
Habit tracker: 11/14

The only good thing I can say was that at least I didn't make a bad choice until late in the day, so the whole day wasn't that bad. But my stress level was like a soda can waiting to explode so I reached for food. My hubby was frustrating me that he doesn't listen to doctor's orders or follow post-op instructions. I told him he better hope he never needs major surgery if he can't even follow the basically easy post-cataract surgery instructions. o_O

1/5/22

Water:
95oz
Protein: 93 g (Did you guys know that the Quest brand frozen pizza has 22 gr of protein for 1/3 of a pizza and are pretty tasty? Also those packages of tuna are 17grams? I love both of those. Highly recommend if you like pizza and tuna)
Mindful eating: I am still trying to get this one. I find if I wait too long to eat, I eat too fast so working on eating before I get "hangry".
Movement: 3659 steps but I was lazy. Trying to up this one but working 9 hour days gets hard because when I get home I just want to sit and relax. Will work on this for sure.
Self-care: Decided I was going to get my nails done but my nail guy was sick and had to cancel. Maybe this weekend.

Thank you for your info on the Gum I still have not tried but I may some time soon.

Thanks for the tip about the amt of protein in that Quest pizza, but sorry, LaurieLee, I strongly do not recommend pizza and tuna. Maybe pizza and anchovies, but not "with" tuna.;)

BTW sometimes I get an attack of "the sillies" when I see some things. Please know that I'm just trying to inject a little humor in my replies. Hopefully you won't take my comment as anything but a reflection of my silliness. ❤❤

Day 5

Water: 96 oz
Protein: 50 g
Exercise: Good long walk through the grocery store to get ready for today's snowstorm.

Day 6
Protein
: 65 grams
Water: 60 oz
Mindful eating-not so much
Purposeful movement:yes! I cleaned out and organized our laundry/storage area. I do this a couple times a year because I have to sift through all the kids clothes from the previous seasons.
BiWeekly weigh in: 169.4

Building myself into the challenge still haven’t opened the door to it yet. Still working on details.

Day 6

Water: 96 oz
Protein: 50 g
Movement: gotta get there asap

So happy that my body decided to work with the scale again. I stopped the starchy carbs that I'd been nibbling on for a month - gasp! I was rewarded today when I stepped on the scale just for kicks & giggles. Scale says 174.8, down 3 lbs since Monday. Total weight loss 59.2!

My 6 month bariatric checkup is Wednesday, so I am psyched that I'm back on track with everything but movement. My lab work came back with all my levels good except I'm a little high with my B12. I have to take it every other day now, which I already do with my iron supplement.

I don't participate in our group's challenges because it feels like a judgment of my lifestyle. It also feels like someone is suggesting I need a diet.

No offense intended, and I take no offense either. No one eats the same way every day. Scrutinizing my diet is the last thing I need.

It took me a long time to get into a healthy place where I didn't obsess about every crumb. It's such a joy to eat without obsession. That's what normal people do.

Just my opinion, not a judgment if anyone else's.
Diane, you certainly do NOT need this challenge. I applaud you for you maintaining your weight for 14 or so years following surgery. You rock!!!

BTW, I guess that is why I don't put my numbers up there anymore. For me I am trying to go by my habit tracker and how many boxes I can check off. If I continue good habits I know I will do well in the long run. I am trying not to think of the word diet either but rather correct my lifestyle of unhealthy eating and make better day to day choices. But I am not judging either, whatever works for the individual is what is important.

Lol. Pizza with Tuna sounds gross. I like them separately definitely not together. Although that would be a huge amount of protein in one serving. ;)

Day 7
Protein
: 75 grams
Water: 60 oz
Mindful eating: yes
Purposeful movement: no. Woke up in the midst of a fibro flare. Did my grocery shopping, then sat around a lot. Hoping to get some hard sleep tonight. I hate being this sore and tired.

January 7th

Grams of Protein:
58
Ounces of Water:
72
Daily Steps:
10522
Mindful Eating Choices:
Yes.
Self-Care Decisions: Went back to bed after waking up in the middle of the night. Which seems to be the norm lately, but I usually just stay up and suffer. 4-5 hours a night doesn't cut it for me. I really need 7-8 to function without brain fog.
