I had RNY in feb of 2020. my lowest was 125 a year ago. Got started put on a mental health medications that really work however ive gained alot of weight since starting meds. Im now up to 236. I was 285 when i had my surgery. I have since started working with my team again to get back on track weightloss wise which will consist of medication assisted weightloss option as there is no surgery i can get to help. I also have reactive hypoglycemia which started about 2 1/2 years after surgery i also have a heart condition called SVT (my heart beats faster than it should during flare ups). So long road ahead for me. My struggle is im always hungry which is a new feeling for me because literally never felt hungry since i had my surgery. They say its because of my mental medications. I also never feel full until its too late and im sick. Either way im here for some good recipes and just overall support while i navigate weightloss with mental health care. Im so sick of hamburger meat just and fyi and my husband and his boys literally only eat hamburger

Hello and welcome. Mental health medications are so tricky. Cooking for others is also very challenging. I had RNY last year and I am also trying to figure this out. I am quite lucky because my husband is mostly flexible about what he eats. Still it is exhausting trying to figure out how to create meals for us.

I don't mean to be critical, but why are you the family cook? That's a RECIPE for disaster.

You need to put yourself first, especially now. You already went through a difficult and probably painful surgery to change your life. You can bet cooking for others is going to undo all that.

My advice (unwanted or not) is to sit everyone down and sort things out. Decide who's going to cook what and on what day, because you need only to cook for yourself. Of course you can all agree on supporting you and accomplish that by agreeing on menus that feed them and NOURISH you.

I got lucky because I have a kid who's a picky eater, so I could just whip up something with peanut butter or whatever he wanted (occasionally managing to include nonfat, high-protein things for me) so we could eat at the same time and both be happy.

But look at what you've been through, and what it cost and how much effort you had to put into it, including pain and loss of so many things you wish you could pig out on. You come first because YOU made the most effort. Get them to learn to cook for YOU.
