Painful swallowing

I had surgery yesterday and it hurts so much to swallow. I'm scared. I can hardly drink anything.

That’s probably from the breathing tube. I hate the feeling after they take it out, almost worst than anything else! Drink slowly. If there’s a temperature of water that you find more soothing, I prefer warm water after but some like super cold, try that. Hope it gets better really soon!

 

So it's not so much swallowing but once it hits my stomach it burns so bad. Even my own saliva causes me pain. Not sure how I'm supposed to take pain medication when it hurts this bad.

I am thinking that is something to call the dr about you do not want something bad going on. Is this new after you go home from the hospital? Did you stay overnight in the hospital? Please call and talk to your team.

Went to the doctor this morning, he said it can happen in some patients. Called me in liquid pain meds but insurance won't pay. Ugh. Anyone else have similar issues? And if so any suggestions on how to make it easier? Thank you.

Sometimes, they can help significantly with the cost. (i give this to my patients alot!) You type in the medication, dose, etc, and it gives you the lowest price ant what pharmacy. If that makes sense?
