Hi, brand spankin’ new. Can’t see what I’m typing, driving me nuts . Need to lose STUBBORN 70 pounds. 25 years of old baby weight. Do you think they would consider me for any type of weight loss surgery? I did lose 60 pounds on my own in 2018 slowly but need help with the rest. I believe it will help my depression and get a diagnosis for my neck and back.

I had lost over 200lbs on a low carb diet and kept walking. It is hard work but having surgery is life changing. I believe you can do it on your own. But if you want check with your doctor. A lot changes after surgery and you may not want all those changes. I would try again with the diet and exercise if I was you.

So I could probably lose 100 lbs but 80 might be fine. I've decided on the surgery because I have diabetes and hypertension and sleep apnea. I want to eradicate all of that because I am afraid of the consequences of diabetes. I don't have the willpower I believe to do a low carb diet like MamaBear (congrats). Been doing a lot of research and talking to people I know had the surgery and while it was a struggle they don't regret it. (maybe on occasion but overall they don't). The surgery now is laparoscopic and maybe an overnight stay. its the aftermath I think is going to be really challenging.

kmrose even after surgery you do know it is more protein then carbs right. The doctor told me when I started the low carb diet, All meats and and green veggie is good. I have not ate fries, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes or any potatoes for 5 years now. it is hard. I have 4 boys and they love them my home made mashed potatoes. They love the fried potatoes with onions. But I know it is better for me to lose the weight. I have no health issues besides acid reflux really bad. I am just way to over weight and it is taking a toll on my body now. I tried to lose without the surgery but not going so well. I have done the medicine and the diets. Changed the way I cooked to how much I ate. I don't eat out at all. I am always cooking. My kids are spoiled by my food. They hate going to other peoples houses because they know they can go in the fridge and they can just grab some home cooked food to heat up. And through my whole thing my oldest son used to be over weight but those little changes does wonders. My son has slimmed down and is more active now. But I understand your reason for doing the surgery. It is just not as hard as you think. I always eat my meats first anyways and my veggies next. The only thing that changes is the fact of the amount of it. I have problems with portion control even when I control the portions I don't feel up all the way. So the surgery will help me for sure.

Tdean007- My doctor said that a 100 lb weight loss wasn't the only criteria. He said that they looked at BMIs in the 40s and any comorbidities like diabetes, heart trouble, sleep apnea that might be treated with gastric surgery. Look into it with your doctor. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change.
