Self care

Here's my list of self care. If anyone wants to add their own list, I'd love to see what others do. It can be very individual for what works for one person and what works for another.

  1. If it's not a "hell yeah", it is a "hell no!" Don't jump in to the things you don't want to do just because someone asks.
  2. Recite the serenity prayer.
  3. Go for a walk.
  4. Take a nap.
  5. Meditate. Deep slow breaths.
  6. Listen to relaxation music and do a foot massage or a facial massage.
  7. Go for a drive, pick a road you don't normally drive on and enjoy the scenery.
  8. Watch a "feel good" movie.
  9. Practice positive self-talk.
  10. Journal your feelings.

I love facial masks. I try to do them every Sunday (self care Sunday!) while listening to spa music. My favorite lotion is the bath and body works stress relief scent and I use that before bed. It really calms me down. One of my biggest stress relievers is cranking up music and singing along.

I've been reciting the serenity prayer like crazy and I'm not even religious. But that is excellent advice at all times, for all people.
Read. Which I make time for daily, unless there is an actual life threatening emergency.
Long, Warm Bath. Lit candles, Alexa playing relaxing sounds in the background. (I like ocean waves and thunderstorms!)
I am lucky enough to live about 10 minutes from the (Lake Michigan) lakefront, so even if I don't have time to spend the day at the beach, I can usually find an hour or so to go look at/listen to the water. Added Bonus: driving with the radio blasting. It's gorgeous in all weather.
Go for a pedicure. My place has the worlds best massage chairs, and they do leg massages. I take my book. It's heaven.

This one isn't mine but when my husband is super stressed, he goes for a haircut.

I went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned and had nitrous oxide! That was very relaxing!

Oh, and last week I went to the salon and got my hair done and a pedicure. I got to spend the day with my friend and her new puppy.

I do my own nails every couple of weeks, which isn't as relaxing as I'd like, but I always like how I feel after I do them.

Doing crafts always makes me feel good.

I am calling today sod it Saturday. I have had the most exhausting week at work and my legs and feet were killing me!

so I got up this morning and took myself for a lower leg massage and pedicure, which felt wonderful. Then I bought myself a cinnamon spice latte for lunch. I also bought myself a best-seller paperback to read and a new grey top with lacy sleeves in a size small!

because I’m at work all week, I usually spend all weekend catching up on chores, but not today, there has to be more to life!

I have had a lovely morning :)
