Hey guys & gals,

I just wanted to know if anyone is on Instagram documenting their journey? I love following accounts like that. I find it fascinating to see what people are eating and how they are recovering post op. Let me know if you are on there and what your name is so I can follow your journey. Some of my favorite accounts I have found are of bariatric patients in the U.K. and other parts of Europe. I thought maybe I am just biased because I think British folks have the best sense of humor and sarcasm. Example: There is a woman from the U.K. that I follow who's Instagram name is … die_lard_with_a_vengeance. :D

Thats funny!

Double.B, I'm with you. My mother-in-law is English, Liverpool, during the war. I love the dry sense of humor. I haven't even found time to visit friends on FB. I am caregiver for my daughter (pancreatic cancer) so my time is limited. When I finally have time, I'm going to post the heck out of Instagram.

I follow Dr. Duc Vuong, with a bit of a caveat... I participated in his challenge program earlier this year, and was really, really turned off by the "mean girls" mentality that was pervasive in the group and instigated by him. That does not void the fact that his information is really good, but I will not participate in any of the small groups he has ever again.

I also follow My Level 10 Life (Erin Bransom). I really enjoy the variety of information that she has, and the increased vulnerability she has in sharing her journey.

I have followed various people at different parts of my journey. I thought about sharing my journey in a more public setting, and still do consider that, but I am just not ready to commit to that just yet. I think, for myself, I am still too easily affected by the comments and criticisms of others. I don't know that I am willing to take on the criticism in particular that I know will come if I take my journey into a more public manner.

I think you would be a great inspiration to so many! But I so completely understand the criticism factor.

I can understand your hesitation for not wanting to put your journey out there. People can be really vicious on social media and I don't understand it. I once saw a woman shame another because she reintroduced carbs back into her diet. Stuff like that makes my eyes roll so hard. Everyone is different and there is no streamlined way to live your life after a huge surgery like ours. For some, it's not ideal to live a super low carb life just to sustain weight loss. I follow a woman named Little Kansas Kitty and she has done a phenomenal job at maintaining her weight and enjoys things like oatmeal. She also runs 8-15 miles nearly every morning. There is another woman that has built quite a bit of muscle and she is lean and also enjoys complex carbs.
